I am 31 weeks

I am just wondering if I have just quiet baby here..

Compared to my last pregnancy, this baby seems quiet!

It just riggles some times, but nothing powerful, like last pregnancy. It also spends alot of time very still.

Is that normal?

I have been unwell for the last 3 days, with a recurrent headache that forced me to the docs. All ok bloodpressure fine, and wee ok too.

Do you think he is just keeping quiet while I am feeling unwell?

bet as soon as I send this, he wakes up for the rest of the day

I,m 28 wks and I think I.ve got a quiet one here too. This is my first so I don't know what to expect but I work with another pregnant lady and her baby has been kicking and moving about a lot (she's 34wks). Sometimes it bothers me when I have days when the baby seems very still and all I seem to do is look for more movement then other days He/she kicks away. I truly think all babies are different. Hope you feel better soon. xx

Divvy it might be that your placenta is on the front wall of your womb so is cushioning the little kicks and jiggles the baby makes?

Hi I am 31 weeks and last week I called the MW as I was freaking out that the baby wasn't moving enough. I ended up having a scan and the baby had his back to my belly which is why I was feeling the kicks all muffled! He must have turned now because I can feel him alright!!

Divvy · 24/05/2008 16:30

They are naughty little things arent they?

I know he is ok, as he does move about daily, just not all the time though.

I have now been headache free for 4 hours! Hope its gone for good now!

At 31 weeks, baby's probably beginning to run out of room to kick. From around 32-33 weeks I began to feel less hard kicks and more stretching, wriggles and elbows. Each time the MW checked at routine checkups, baby was fine. Throughout my pregnancy my baby has had a few very active days alternating with a few very quiet days. Baby's are all different. You could try prodding her or drinking very cold water/milk and see how she or he responds. If you are really worried of course you should call the hospital to check the heartbeat.

As you et closer to delivery date, you may find your baby getting quieter due to preparation too.

I'm about 31 weeks (as far as I can remember) DS has definitely stopped doing so many big movements and is still wriggling madly but not actually doing handstands anymore (thank goodness).

If you get worried, take three slow deep breaths. The rush of oxygen normally wakes the little blighters up after about ten seconds. But go for a wee first, that defiant kick can really take you by surprise!

Having some very painful poking going on today, right underneath my belly button...ouch!

Oh yes, that taking several deep breaths thing really works for me too!

I've posted on another thread but I thought I would ask on here as it might be a recent memory for some of you guys.

I am 23 weeks and my LO only seems to move sporadically and never really kicks as such.

The usual tricks (cold drinks, music etc) don't seem to work on this LO. He moves a bit after I eat and I can feel gentle movements when I lean forward sometimes. The thing that worries me is he only seems to get really active on one or two days a week. So after he's had his busy day the movement tails off and he hardly moves for days. He's been like this since week 16 when I first felt movement but I keep thinking that when I reach the next milestone (20 weeks, 24 weeks) I will feel proper regular kicking but I haven't yet. My MW just says it's early days but it seems to me that I actually felt more movement at 20 weeks than I do now.

If your baby has always been a quiet one, then there is probably no cause for alarm, but always go and get checked if worried. Any change in movements needs to be checked. Babies don't move less towards the end of the pregnancy, you should always get 10 movements every 12 hours.

mrsboogie · 25/05/2008 13:05

My midwife did say that - I'd say it is very rare for me to feel that many movements in 12 hrs more than once a week. I have an appointment next week so I will see what she thinks...

Divvy · 25/05/2008 17:22

MrsBoogie - I dont think I was getting any regular movements till after 24 weeks, just the odd flip until then. Then it all kicked off as I remember.
