Babymoon in Thailand

Hi everyone, I am newly pregnant( about 5 weeks ) and am very excited. Me and my Husband have booked a trip to Thailand for a month last month before knowing we were expecting for late November early December times. We have already been to Thailand twice and this would be our 3rd longest trip however at this time I will be around 25-30 weeks pregnant and the return flight is 13h. The location we are staying is close to hospitals and we are close to Bangkok. Will this be a safe location for our babymoon ? We are worried due to the risk of mosquito bites and Zika viruses however we would also really like to go. Has anyone been to Thailand for their babymoon ? How did they manage the long flight and where did you stay? Please help 😢🥰🥰❤️

Congratulations :)
First step would be to check you can get insurance for yourself and for any costs in particular for baby relating to premature birth while there (neonatal care is the expensive bit) - you may well find no one will cover you. also would make sure to chat with your midwife (you’d want to see whether she thinks you have any risks for preterm labour as definitely you shouldn’t go if that’s the case). And probably also a travel doctor closer to the time re Zika/malaria/dengue etc depending on where exactly you’re headed.
You have plenty of time to decide though and I would probably leave any decision until second trimester.

Congratulations!
A quick Google tells me that Zika is present in Thailand, and it says cases are concentrated around Bangkok. I am not qualified to give you medical advice but it wouldn't be a risk I personally would like to take. Long flights come with DVT risks in pregnancy so something worth thinking about too. Best people to discuss with will be Midwife/GP/doctor in your hospital. As PP said, a travel clinic might have some good up to date information regarding Zika risk too.

Really? On your other thread he's your controlling boyfriend of 6 months who goes through your phone and grills you on past sexual partners.

You move fast, I'll give you that!

Cheesystick · 30/06/2025 13:07

You've already been to Thailand twice during your six month relationship? Do you not have jobs? I would listen to the posters telling you to reconsider the pregnant and to get rid of the man before planning a holiday.

GonnaeNoDaeThatJustGonnaeNo · 30/06/2025 13:11

You really shouldn’t go to a country with Zika when pregnant.

I can’t imagine anything worse than a long haul flight when 25-30 weeks pregnant.

you will be so uncomfortable

Screamingabdabz · 30/06/2025 13:14

I think forget about Thailand and reflect on your life choices.

Sorry to hijack but how did you do that? (I can't work out how to find posts by a particular user on here and it's very frustrating!) X

Me too! (I use the app rather than browser)

Click on the search function at the bottom right of the page. You'll then see an 'advanced search' option on the right hand side of the page that comes up. Click that and there will be several search filters that you can use 'search posts by a specific user' should be the 3rd one down.

Bestevercatmum · 30/06/2025 13:52

I’m confused - you refer to him as your ‘boyfriend’ in your previous post, but your ‘husband’ in this one!!
Whatevever he is, get rid.

Winkyskull · 30/06/2025 14:45

No personally I wouldn’t go due to the risks of Zika virus

RuthChrisSt · 30/06/2025 17:12

Is the trip planned with your boyfriend or husband?

ThejoyofNC · 30/06/2025 17:17

I can't seem to find OP's previous post?

Anyway, why would you go to a place that's known to have zika?

She had it taken down due to privacy concerns.

What is a Babymoon?
A holiday when you’re pregnant?

Hollyhobbi · 01/07/2025 19:56

I wouldn't go as you have an increased risk of DVT and PE simply due to being pregnant yet alone adding two long haul flights and the risk of food poisoning on top of that.
