When to start aspirin?

Currently 6 weeks + 4. I have a family history of pre-eclampsia (mum and sister both had it).

I have been pregnant before (unfortunately ended in miscarriage at 9+5) so I know at my booking appointment I’ll be offered aspirin. The appointment isn’t until 9 weeks which feels too late - my sister started on aspirin at 12 weeks and still got preeclampsia.

I have also read that aspirin can prevent miscarriages and is offered to women that have had recurrent miscarriages.

I am wondering whether to just start on baby aspirin now. Did anyone else start this early for either preeclampsia or miscarriage prevention? Just trying to weigh the pros and cons.

I have tried to speak to antenatal about this but they say they can’t see me before the booking appointment.

I always started it from a positive test. When it was officially recommended at my 7/8 week Gyn appointments they were always happy I'd started and always upped it to 150mg (I started myself on 75mg)

See I’ve had the opposite, both times. I was told to start at 12 weeks on 150mg aspirin, even though I was prescribed it at my booking appointment.

Second pregnancy I forgot and took one dose around 9 weeks when I picked up the prescription and midwife told me to stop and only start it after 12 weeks, she was very insistent on that.
