stings a little, and then you’ll probably have an achy arm, maybe tender at the injection site. that’s what it was like for me each time I’ve had it☺️ x

It's a biggish needle, but doesn't hurt that much at all. I freaked out because they tried to do it in my arm in my last pregnancy, so I refused until they did it in my leg like the previous times I'd had it. I find that a lot easier because it feels further away from me, if that makes sense? 😂

I've had it in my leg and my butt 🤣 both were fine, bit stingy but over in no time.

I had mine there too! I saw a mention of the arm, and I thought I had misremembered.

I remember the midwife coming to do it, and she asked for my bottom. I pulled my trousers down and leant over the bed, but it turned out she only wanted the top part of my cheek 😄.

It’s fine, it sounds scarier than it is because it’s a big needle. Reading that it’s a big needle, is actually worse than the actual needle IYSWIM!

Thanks everybody - I’ve had a scan letter through as well, is that normal at 28 weeks?! I was under the impression I only have scans 12 and 20 weeks. I’m a high risk pregnancy.

Its maybe because you are high risk i remember i had a growth scan at 27 weeks, no the anti d doesn't hurt too much its more of a sting than pain, you will be fine.

DecemberBabe · 25/06/2025 22:21

I had it twice it looks scary but it's like having bloods taken over and done within a minute.
Not massively painful but obviously not fun either.. Just uncomfortable.

I’m due my anti-d in August, had it with my last pregnancy and it was totally fine :) in terms of a scan at 28 weeks it’s likely because you are high risk. Are you under a consultant? I was last time and again now and I’ll be having growth scans and seeing the consultant/their team at 28, 32 and 36 weeks.

esunny · 26/06/2025 12:04

Hey all - anti d went fine the needle was a bit big but only stung! I didn’t end up having a scan as I was in last week for a growth scan :)
