Holiday to Tunisia 30 weeks pregnant

Hi, can anyone provide any experience/reassurance of travelling to an AI resort in Tunisia whilst pregnant? Spontaneously and probably rather naively we have booked a last minute holiday to Tunisia and haven’t really considered the health risks associated. I will be 29/30 weeks pregnant at the time of travel. Now starting to panic a little. Can anyone provide any reassurance at all? Thank you!

I went to Tunisia when pregnant with my first at around 28 weeks but she’s now 14 so a long time ago. I just made sure my insurance fully covered pregnancy and took all my notes. We actually got less bother from the sellers and stuff than I have in other similar countries which I think was in part cause of my bump. I made sure to go to speak to the tour rep when we got there just to check I had the correct numbers for medical services. Drink plenty of bottled water and try not to sit in sun all day. I’m sure you will have a fab time.

Thanks @cherrybobbins. I think I’m more worried about illnesses/viruses etc. we have never been to Tunisia and always hear about waterborne/food borne viruses being rife at these resorts. Wouldn’t be so concerned if I wasn’t pregnant but obv not ideal. Also wasn’t aware of the risks re mosquitoes and viruses etc.

I went to Morocco at about 28w pregnant. She’s now 17 so it’s ages ago but all was fine.

@Myname111ive been to Egypt and got extremely ill but I was ok in Tunisia, again it was a long time ago. Staying hydrated is key and I have a few friends who swear by taking pepto bismal everyday when they go but I’m not sure you can have that while pregnant but might be worth checking out.

Was your travel insurance happy about it?

Lots and lots of holiday tummy type bugs. I guess you can help yourself by only drinking bottled drinks. No ice. No salads. Hot food only (probably unhealthy burger and chips type stuff). Take rehydration stuff with you and also immodium!

@Thatsrhesummeroverthen from what I can read it fully covers pregnancy but I’ll need to phone and speak to someone.

@Slightyamusedandsilly do you mean lots of holiday tummy type bugs in general or specific to Tunisia? I will defo be taking all the precautions I can. Just worry if one of the other family members get something and it works it’s way through us all!
