Bleeding

Hello, I had random bleeding very similar to a period when I was 9 weeks pregnant and I went for a private scan and the baby looked fine and had a strong heartbeat. I didn’t have any pains or clots. It stopped after around 4 days and then around a week or two later I had intercourse with my husband and a day after that I started bleeding heavily in the evening, i was laying in bed at the time so every time I got up it just gushed out and then sort of slowed down throughout the day. Again no pains or clots. I went in to the early pregnancy assessment unit and I had my cervix checked and a swab, the doctor couldn’t see anything and said the bleeding stopped but by time I got home when I got out of the car I felt a little gush again. That was on Friday and it is now Sunday I’m still bleeding not very heavily but like a light period, it’s there when I wipe and stuff and I have to wear a pad. I have an ultrasound on Tuesday but it feels like I’m waiting forever 🥲I still have the sore breasts and sickness too! I’m just concerned about the amount of bleeding. When I went in to the early pregnancy unit a lady who was 11 weeks like me only had a tiny amount of bleeding and she went in for her scan and all I could hear was her screaming and crying so I’ve just been anxious ever since. Has anyone experienced similar?

I didn’t have heavy bleeding but I did spot everyday for 4.5 weeks in my 1st trimester. DS is here happy and healthy

Bleeding is more common than you think - 1 in 4 - and even more so after sex.
I’ve bled from week 6-13 on and off and again a gush at 15. I’m 20w now. So many possible causes, SCH, cervical irritation, fibroids, burst blood vessel.

realistically the clinic aren’t going to see you any sooner than your scheduled scan on Tues so you’re only options is private if you don’t want to wait.

personally I’d hang on given you’re previous scan has been fine - and the chances of MC are sliming with every week that goes on. Plus you bled after sex so that’s by far the most likely cause of the issue.

Sorry you’re experiencing this 😔 very stressful. Great you’ve seen a nice heartbeat and all looked good.
Fingers crossed for some reassurance with your scan tomorrow.

For what it’s worth, I had two major gushing bleeds around 7 and 9 weeks pregnant (I think, it’s all a blur with weeks now!!). I was convinced I’d lost baby. It was awful. Went to A&E the first time on advice from midwife, and they saw a heartbeat and what they thought was a subchorionic hematoma which was likely the cause of it. I bled/spotted every day until around 16 weeks. Was awful. It was then discovered it was a twin I’d lost, but the sac remained. And am now 22 weeks with our little girl, and no more bleeding or spotting (fingers crossed!!).

Blood doesn’t always mean bad for baby (although I do understand the fear, we had a miscarriage last year which instilled my terror when I bled again with this one).

Wishing you all the best for tomorrows scan 🙂

After two back to back mcs that time around, I had huge heavy bleeding, passing clots and everything. Almost didn't bother going for the scan as I thought it was another mc. (Had no pregnancy symptoms). Turns out there was no evidence for the bleed what so over, but it lasted 10 long days, had a little spotting after that after sex, but she's now my absolute favourite little devil in the world.
Fingers crossed for your scan op!

Thank you all for your kind words, the baby looked healthy! They could see the bleed on the ultrasound scan so they are going to see me more often to keep an eye on it
