Spotting after sex in pregnancy

Hi all,

I’m currently 16w3d pregnant and had a gender scan today and baby is healthy 😊 Later had sex with partner – felt a bit sore after but no cramps. Noticed a tiny bit of pink spotting. Is this normal or should I call the midwife?
Thanks x

Most likely just a bit of irritation to the cervix, I'd just monitor and seek more advice if it worsens.

Like PP said, probably just an irritated cervix. I have cervical ectropion which meant I had spotting for the first 9/10 weeks of pregnancy.

If you're worried always call your midwife though.

Thanks both for your replies!
i decided to call midwife instead of worrying all night and went to triage.

Babys heart beat was still strong and healthy so no concern there and had a speculum where they picked up a roughly 1cm abnormality but not sure what it is so waiting to hear back from them about another appointment where they can have a proper look, but sounds to be more to do with me then baby and they weren’t too concerned.

@Sammytoby ahh that is excellent news! They might have just picked up a cervical ectropion for you too. The nurse picked up mine at my last pap smear.
