(If you're thriving in this heat - tell me your secrets!! I'm am 99% Calippo at this point.)

Put damp flannels in the freezer for a bit. One on the back of your neck, another anywhere and to wipe and cool face. Keep cooling and replacing them.
Have a fan on obviously.
That's all I got.
Sympathy OP. Good luck with the birth!

Ice packs on your pulse points

BreakingBroken · 20/06/2025 05:59

I’ve been where you’re at. Fill a basin with cold/cool water and sit with your feet in it.
I set up a wading pool in the back yard and put my rocking chair in the middle of it.
Went to my mom’s house and slept in her basement.
Gave everyone the death stare and growled a lot!.

ChocolateGanache · 20/06/2025 06:00

Wrap an ice pack from your freezer in a pillow case and use like a coldwater bottle in bed 🧊🧊🧊

Funnily enough I've just finished a cola Calippo! I complained to my husband at 4am about feeling like a boiled egg.

I'm only 16 weeks but a walk outside makes me feel like I'm boiling from the inside out. Lots of ice water, little clothing and trying to romanticize summer with my bump (bloat) that I've been waiting over 3 years for.

teatimefortiger · 20/06/2025 14:49

If you don’t have a paddling pool thing, get a plastic tub full with cold water, sit in a dark shady place with your feet in the tub and shove another calippo in (baby needs it). Alternatively, I spent a lot of time hanging round Iceland (the shop not the country) and poking my head into the massive freezers 😅

LER2023 · 20/06/2025 19:45

I laughed so hard at PP comment about iceland freezers.

Im 19 weeks tomorrow and dying. I dont know if i can cope through summer with this heat. I usually sleep in pj bottoms and a vest top. Ive now had to come out of my comfort zone and sleep in my underwear and a vest top. Its so hot in the day and night. On top of that ive got a stupid f**king viral infection which is killing me off.
So heat, pregnancy and illness are all mixing and i just keep side eyeing my DP whos sat with a flannel on his head. No other reason than hes not pregnant and poorly and feeling like absolute shit.

LaTable · 20/06/2025 21:17

I mean, I know it's kind of counter intuitive, but keep your curtains and windows closed during the day and open them up on the night. I know night temps are still higher than norm there but it does help. As crap as sitting in a dark house is all day, (trust me I totally get it. We only get a few month of the year where they aren't closed either keeping the heat in or keeping the heat out)
Other than that, putting ice cold water behind the fan apparently helps too. So a friend says. It melts too quickly imo 😅
Anyway, all melting in solidarity, supposed to be almost 40c here tomorrow.... with a party in the park to attend🥵🥵

Poppins2016 · 20/06/2025 21:43

Buy a cooling dog mat or two. They're wonderful to sit on/against (especially if you can get one that you can put in the fridge/freezer... not recommended for pets, but great for us humans)!

If you're struggling to sleep in the heat, try making a sheet damp (quick rinse in the machine and high rpm spin is best), then sleep underneath it (especially effective with a fan directed towards you). It's a really effective method of cooling you down.

I'll second the advice to keep curtains and windows closed during the day. I air my house at night and early morning, then close all the windows and curtains as soon as the temperature starts rising (sometimes as early as 7/8 am). Opening the windows when it's hot just lets warm air into the house.

Saltedcarameltiramisucheesecake · 20/06/2025 22:07

I wipe a cold damp flannel all over before bed, let the water evaporate off, it is so cooling. Sleep with just a sheet.
Per PP, keep windows and blinds closed in the day and throw open late evening when cooler. Solidarity. ✊️ It won't last forever.

I’m not pregnant, but considering this now!

Iambouddicca · 20/06/2025 23:06

spending hours walking ( and loitering) in the chiller aisles of a large supermarket. A washing basket full of water to put your feet in. And a spray bottle of water with a fan!

annlee3817 · 20/06/2025 23:08

Oh I feel your pain, was pregnant with my second when it hit 40... Super cold showers before bed, particularly focussing on getting the feet nice and cold

DelilahBucket · 20/06/2025 23:10

Fill a hot water bottle from the tap and freeze it. That and keeping water in the fridge to have with ice to cool internally and my absolute sympathies. I was heavily pregnant in winter and spent the January in a t-shirt, outside.
