MMC?

I had a private scan last Sunday when I should have been 8’4 but i was measuring 5’3. The person doing the ultrasound said everything should be where it is but just don’t heartbeat. I’ve not experienced any bleeding or anything but my boobs were really sore at the beginning and it is now minimal. I’ve got a scan at the EPU on Monday, I have prepared myself for the worse. I’ve had 2 miscarriages in the past but mother natures has just taken its course (usually much earlier than this!). Just wondered when people start getting a drop in HCG on pregnancy tests? I’ve just done one and the test line is still much stronger than the control line. I don’t know if I am just trying to cling on to some hope that my dates are just really wrong🤞 just wondered if anyone can shed any light on the situation? Thanks in advance xxx

I’ve had 2 MMC and for one of them I needed surgery to remove it. Tests didn’t start getting lighter until about 2 weeks after the surgery. My symptoms (sore boobs and nausea) didn’t lessen until then either. I had dye stealer tests right up until 2 weeks after the surgery.

With MMCs your body continues to think it is pregnant and so HCG continues to rise so tests don’t get lighter into your body realises it isn’t really pregnant after all. That could happen tomorrow, or months from now. Quite often people go to their 12 week scan not realising it stopped growing at 5 weeks. So there’s no way to tell when your body will realise it hasn’t worked and start dropping the HCG.

I had a similar situation went in for 1st US and I was measuring about 2 weeks behind what I should have been. I was certain of my dates as I used CB ovulation tests. Went in for another scan 2 weeks later and baby had only grown a tiny bit more. Should have been 10 weeks at that stage and baby stopped growing somewhere during week 6. I started to bleed later that day and then ended up with D&C as it was an incomplete miscarriage. I know when I came home from my scan I read up here and some people did have experiences where dates were off or baby caught up but that wasn’t the case for us. Honestly, deep down I knew it wasn’t going to be a positive end result as although I still had symptoms they weren’t the same intensity which I thought was off. Also I was testing positive for about 2 weeks after D&C which was about 3 weeks after I started to bleed.
