What type of tired is worse??

Just for fun and curiosity to what others say based on experience… what type of tired is worse, pregnancy tired with a toddler or newborn tired with a toddler?

I am currently 36 weeks pregnant, I have a 2.5 year old and my god I am so exhausted! I just feel this is another level type of exhaustion! I feel like if I am struggling now, how will I manage with a toddler a new born but I’ve heard I am going through the hardest stage now? 🤔

My husband is also away with work and doesn’t return until Friday and I am dreading it 🥲 but if I can do this and more people say pregnant with a toddler is worse, I will honestly feel like I could overcome anything if I can survive these next few days!

Hands down pregnancy with a toddler.
For some reason you just power through with a newborn and a toddler?
I also did newborn-3 solo parenting with a 2-5yo with no support physically.

I agree, pregnant with a toddler is worse. You’re still as knackered with a newborn (if not more) but it’s easier dealing with it all when you aren’t carrying the physical load of pregnancy

Pregnancy tired is so much worse... currently 32 weeks pregnant with my third and I'm so done with this exhaustion....bring on the sleepless nights

I don't think you want me to answer this. As far as I remember, pregnancy never made me particularly tired. However two under two nearly destroyed me!

I seem to be in the minority here though!

Pregnancy tired is like nothing else I’ve ever felt. And I say that as a survivor of new born twins!

MakeItToTheMoon · 17/06/2025 16:09

Agreed it’s the worst especially when you probably are much bigger with the second pregnancy. Although I agree with the previous poster who says having two together can be destroying. Once the physical exhaustion wears off after the baby is born, there’s a whole new level of mental exhaustion juggling both! Also adding on the guilt factor!

Enjoy it as much as you can. I remember putting my toddler in the bath twice a day when I couldn’t keep up with the running around and tantrums!

Definitely pregnancy tired. My dd2 is 16 and I still remember the relief once she was born. SO much easier.

Sometimes, if you're lucky, a baby and toddler will sleep at the same time so you can sleep.

However pre birth mum trying to rest = gymnastics practice

I found newborn and toddler more tiring but seem to be in the minority!

If you have support around you it is easier with a newborn and a toddler than pregnant with a toddler, if u don’t have much support in early post partum weeks im not gonna lie it’s brutal. My DH had to go back to work when DS2 was 3 days old and no one really bothered to step in or help out much and I genuinely felt horrific. Sat on a couch fighting to keep my eyes open holding a new baby and trying to look after after a 20 month old. Honestly looking back it just makes me so sad and angry tht I was literally drowning and despite having family no one bothered their arse

100% pregnant with a toddler. I'm 35 weeks with a 10, 7 and 2yo so I say that with confidence 😁 I always have a little 'how am I going to cope with a baby!?!' panic then remember I won't also be pregnant!

I agree! Pregnancy with a toddler is so tiring.

I just had DC2 last week and have a 17m old, I can confirm pregnancy with a toddler is SO much worse

GiigiGiraffe89 · 18/06/2025 15:21

Depends if you have any type of support at all. I had none. Zero. So I will vote for newborn plus toddler, sorry.

genesis92 · 18/06/2025 15:24

Pregnant with a 1 year old was the worst time of my life due to sickness and tiredness. I’ve got a newborn now and life is so much better

LotsOfSmallThings · 18/06/2025 15:25

Pregnant plus toddler is much worse than newborn plus toddler! I had no support, had 3 aged 5 and under and found late pregnancy much harder than newborn with DC2 and 3. At least you can put the baby down sometimes, unlike the bump 😅
