Hi

I was 7 days late with dd1 but didn't need induction

Was 10 days late with dd2 but went into labour spontaneously

I guess what I'm trying to say is that you won't necessarily need an induction 2nd time round

What bits of early labour are you unsure about?

sambrads · 25/05/2008 11:45

well im not sure if the contractions will be the same.

will i know im in labour it feels strange as i have already had a baby but dont know what it is like to go into labour

You don't have to be induced at all, you can wait longer than ten days if you wish to.

Labour is labour, whether induced or not so I expect you'll know when the time comes, the ctx may start off weaker than with induction but they will be there nevertheless.

So the good news is that labour will probably feel easier if it starts up naturally and just because one labour was induced doesn't mean there is something wrong with you which means this baby won't come on its own.

A good friend of mine was induced with the first and then delivered the second in little over an hour, with the help of her husband and an ambulance man banging on the door as her son crowned, because she didn't actually recognise contractions when they came on their own as anything other than 'niggly pains'.

Hopefully it'll all happen spontaneously but if it helps.. I've been induced twice and I have to say second time was better - your body has a much better idea of what to do even if nature is given a kick start again .

elkiedee · 25/05/2008 20:33

Why were you induced the first time? 7 days overdue is a little early - mine was only 8/9 days but they're really supposed to wait to 10 but there was a bank holiday weekend coming up and the date I was booked in was the only one in about a week.

And didn't the induction involve getting you to go into labour?

I was induced

sweetkitty · 25/05/2008 20:34

BF was induced with her first at 14 days overdue, second time she went into labout herself at 6 days overdue.

elkiedee i was 10 days over when i was induced think you have picked that up wrong from the thread.

yes induction did get me to go into labour but i am just curious if i will be able to go myself this time!!!

thanks whomovedmychocolate its great to know that the pain wont start as strong as being induced as i had a pretty bad time but i do like the sound of 1 hour of labour instead of 12

sambrads, sorry, I did indeed mix up your post and the next one where someone mentioned being 7 days overdue with no 2 but not needing to be induced!
