Irregular gestational sac and progesterone

I just had a scan at the Early Pregnancy Unit as I had spotting and history of miscarriage. I am 4 weeks 2 days today.
The sonographer said that there was a sac with mildly abnormal borders but that it's hard to tell if that's true or not because it's so early and I have an appointment to come back in 2 weeks to see and scan me again.
The nurse I saw after the scan has prescribed me progesterone to take but she said she's also a sonographer and because it's so early she's not entirely convinced it's a gestational sac. She said I can start the progesterone now but she would wait until the next scan to make sure it's definitely a pregnancy. She said this as if it’s ectopic or non viable then I would be delaying the inevitable. She also said she thought the sac could be a pool of blood. What should I do? I had a miscarriage in March that was very prolonged so want to avoid that if it is going to be another miscarriage but also want to support this if it is a viable pregnancy. I know a lot of abnormal bordered gestational sacs don’t have a good outcome but also know that I’m super early so scans at this gestation are difficult to diagnose.

What does it hurt to take progesterone at this gestation? End of the day you are still pregnant as the test states.
Theres no harm in taking progesterone to help a pregnancy progress.
I took mine from my positive test. Took me 3 days to get it but im now 18 weeks and got it without a scan due to my consulant saying i needed it.

You're going for a scan in 2 weeks anyway.

My consultant said progesterone will NOT mask a miscarriage. It just helps to progress a pregnancy.

A miscarriage would be inevitable if its the case that it happens.

Wishing you the best of luck!💐
