I just had a scan at the Early Pregnancy Unit as I had spotting and history of miscarriage. I am 4 weeks 2 days today.
The sonographer said that there was a sac with mildly abnormal borders but that it's hard to tell if that's true or not because it's so early and I have an appointment to come back in 2 weeks to see and scan me again.
The nurse I saw after the scan has prescribed me progesterone to take but she said she's also a sonographer and because it's so early she's not entirely convinced it's a gestational sac. She said I can start the progesterone now but she would wait until the next scan to make sure it's definitely a pregnancy. She said this as if it’s ectopic or non viable then I would be delaying the inevitable. She also said she thought the sac could be a pool of blood. What should I do? I had a miscarriage in March that was very prolonged so want to avoid that if it is going to be another miscarriage but also want to support this if it is a viable pregnancy. I know a lot of abnormal bordered gestational sacs don’t have a good outcome but also know that I’m super early so scans at this gestation are difficult to diagnose.
