Early Cervical Stitch?

Hey everyone 👋🏻
I'm from the North East.

I had to have emergency cerclage with my son at 20 weeks when it shrank to below 2 on a scan. It was very difficult to get anyone to take it seriously and a lot of pushing to the NHS.

I'm pregnant again and I've read about early stitches 12-14 weeks. If anyone can provide me advice on how to get a quick referral for this/ what I have to say and to who, id be super grateful.

I don't have a midwife appointment until 9 weeks and so panicking on the timeline. My GP is not that helpful either unfortunately.

I would pay private if I have to and that's an option too. Just looking for a search starting point, if anyone knows any consultants- will travel anywhere UK. Xx

Contact Dr Nigel Simpson. He works at Leeds and is a leading expert on the subject. He takes referrals from all over the country. Good luck!

Thanks @KittyFantastica . I recognize your name from the other group I was on! How are you doing? I got pregnant early Jan but unfortunately ended in MC in Feb. I'm pregnant again now xx

Are you close to London? If so Professor Shennan in St Thomas hospital, I can PM you details of his wonderful midwife who will talk you through how to get referred to him.

Hi I had mine at the RVI in Newcastle was a while ago (my twins are 11 now) my consultant was Marie Smith. Mine wasn't that early 20w but my cervix was funneling between 0.9 and 1.3cm when she put it in so she did an amazing job. I had the babies at 36w after a pervious loss at 24w. The RVI prem prevention team used to be really good but haven't had any more babies since then..

So sorry to hear of your loss @Anonowlbut very happy to hear of this pregnancy. I’m sending you all the best vibes possible.

Things are very difficult for us, and I’ve got to the point where I trigger myself talking about it. But thank you so much for the kind words and remembering me!
