Hi, new to this but just wanted your thoughts. I’ve recently found out I’m pregnant and very excited about it. Since finding out I’ve felt absolutely exhausted. Is that normal? Looking back at the last 2/3 weeks I’ve been going to bed earlier, falling asleep in the day and in the sofa and all of these are very unlike me. Is it normal to feel this tired?
for info I do also have low b12 and vitamin d so it could be all related.

Yes this is completely normal. My whole first trimester i slept, ate and went to work. I'm now 27 weeks, im still exhausted! I go to bed with my 5 year old and sleep around 12 hours a night. I nap during the day if i'm off work. Its all completely normal. Your body is making a human from scratch, give yourself a break and give into the sleep!

Yep very normal. People talk about how you get your energy back in 2nd trimester but I’m here at 22 weeks still sleeping half the day.

First trimester exhaustion is like nothing else, especially when you're likely pretending everything is normal

Apparently its like running a marathon every day when growing a baby! Explains the horrendous tiredness!! Don't worry just hang in there 2nd trimester is better xx

Soubriquet · 12/06/2025 12:12

It’s very normal. You are literally growing a whole new body. All its organs AND a placenta.

it’s exhausting

Completely normal OP. It should pass a bit. First trimester is a bit brutal.

AutumnVi · 12/06/2025 17:37

Yep first trimester is hell. I could hardly get out of bed with the exhaustion. It’s your body telling you to slow down as you’re growing a human.
I found the first trimester like having the worst hangover every single day x

Pretty normal! I was essentially a potato for the whole of my first trimester. I went to bed most nights at 7:30pm and woke up occasionally to throw up. 🫠 I nodded off while eating dinner one night and usually had a lunchtime nap.

Your blood work from your booking appointment/12-week scan will show if you're lacking in anything, but just remember to rest when you can. (My iron and B12 levels were absolutely fine - so it can be exhausting and still just hormonal!!)
