Short long bones below 1st centile

Hi
at our 20 week scan bones were on the shorter side but above 5th percentile, we then went for a growth scan at 28 weeks due to me having aps which showed all the limbs are measuring short, I’m now 35 weeks and have since had scans every 2 weeks and been seen by fetal medicine and they’re still all measuring below 1st percentile but growing on a steady line. Myself and husband are both short (5ft1 and 5ft6), they’ve mentioned the possibility of skeletal dysplasia/genetic conditions/normal short stature. no other abnormalities apart from a possible third ventical in the brain which shows as slightly dilated? But they have said this could be a normal variant. We decided not to opt for amniocentesis due to the risks and we will love baby whatever but we are understandably worried and just wondered if anyone else had had a similar experience at what the outcome was?
thanks for reading!

Hi, I’m going through this too. At my 20 week scan baby was measuring 3 weeks behind for all long bones, they are small overall and weigh in the 6th percentile but also have a slightly small chest so I’ve gone for amniocentesis as this could be a lethal form of skeletal dysplasia. It’s a painful wait but we should have the results back on Friday 🤞. How are you getting on?

I have a friend who had similar to you. Short long bones. They even mentioned dwarfism. She arrived perfectly fine, small just under 6lb but healthy. She’s now much taller than her mum, finished university and doing well. It’s only a few weeks until you meet your baby now, if they had real concerns they can safely bring her now. My twins were born at 34 weeks. Twin 2 was tiny and not growing. She now towers over her brother who is the only short one in the family! Sending love x

Sorry your going through similar becks55, the waiting is just horrible, I hope it’s positive news on Friday for you!

thank you for your reply and kind words nopenotplaying, I’ve heard a few people saying similar things, which is reassuring!

I’m 37+2 now and due to deliver this week as it’s safest to deliver before 38 weeks due to APS. Having a scan tomorrow so will see what growth is like, it will be a relief when baby is here in my arms! It’s the not knowing which is so hard..

Thank you. We’ve had all of the amnio back and they were clear but unfortunately have another 2 weeks to wait for WES and they are the important ones xx
