Clear blue says 2-3 weeks but I’m 6 weeks pregnant

I’m 6 weeks tomorrow but clearblue digital has been saying 2-3 weeks for almost 2 weeks now and not progressing to 3+.
I definitely had 3+ with my son around 4-5 weeks pregnant so I am worried I’m going to miscarry :( I’ve had 7 chemicals (before 6 weeks) and one MMC at 8 weeks so I’m understandably worried.
all other tests are nice and dark and seem to be showing progression/ staying the same. Just so worried am I out? Please help
thank you in advance

Couldn’t read and run. Sorry for your previous losses - that sounds so hard. I can completely understand your anxiety with that history. Unfortunately there is no reassurance any one can give you - it’s just a really horrible slow wait until you can have a scan. If you’re definitely 6 weeks could you afford a private scan - they should be able to see an intrauterine pregnancy at that point. Or given your previous losses the nhs hospital may offer you an early scan to prevent any further anxiety. I don’t see that repeated testing is actually helping at all and seems to be adding to anxiety so maybe it would help if you stopped testing. I’m sure you know this already but the pregnancy tests only measure a hormone, there can be a variety of reasons why it might be darker / stronger so please try not to read too much into this.

all the best and keeping everything crossed x

I think you need to prepare for news you don’t want to hear OP.

It will be difficult but maybe pause TTc for a couple oF months, enjoy the summer, and then start again

WillowRose1411 · 05/06/2025 20:34

Thank you both for your replies. I’ve already convinced myself that it isn’t good news, i find it easier that way rather than building up hope. I doubt we will try again. I have 3 children already (2 older children from a previous marriage) so this is baby number 4, number 2 for my husband. I don’t think I can’t take the torment again but what will be will be.
thanks again

I am in exactly the same situation - i took a clearblue digital weeks test on Wednesday evening and i should be 5+6 and it said 2-3 - the test i took a week before when i was 4+6 said 1-2 so like you i was panicking!

I have read so much online this last week regarding the weeks indicator tests and they are so un reliable and can cause so much worry - If your other tests are clearly positive - like mine are - then you are clearly pregnant.

When i had my MMC back in 2021 i did get a 3+ on a clearblue - but went on to lose the baby.
With my second pregnancy i never got to the 3+ stage and i stopped testing as i was so anxious - that pregnancy was absolutely fine and my son was born.

I know its easier said than done but please stop testing on the digital weeks one - Can you book a private reassurance scan? Or will the EPU see you due to your previous losses?

Mouche85 · 06/06/2025 10:05

I'm the same as you. People say the weeks ones are unreliable. I just tested with another one and it looks okay.

The thing is that either way, there's nothing we could do anyway. I would still prefer to know for certain, it is not knowing that makes it difficult.

WillowRose1411 · 06/06/2025 12:06

Hi both, thanks for your replies
i have managed to book a private early scan for tomorrow so we will see. I just have a horrible gut feeling but maybe that is me protecting myself.
i know what will be will be and no amount of testing will change the outcome but i find it easier to have some kind of idea rather than get my hopes up and then have that brick dropped on you. I’ve been there before and it just feels so much worse. But I completely get it.
good luck to the both of you and I hope everything turns out ok. I will update the thread after my scan tomorrow 🤞🏽

Were you still getting 2-3 at 6 weeks pregnant with your son? That’s reassuring to hear

I mean i may have done if i had continued testing but at 6 weeks i got the 2-3 and i thought i cant do this to myself any longer! If something was going to happen then it would happen and there was nothing i could do to change that.
I was so anxious going for my first reassurance scan but everything was fine.

Same as me I am so anxious for tomorrow and convinced there will be nothing there :( but that’s good to hear and I’m glad it worked out well for you ❤️

Oh i 100% understand - we don't have many private places here and my husband is away so needed to wait until he was back so the first one i could get was the 28th! 3 weeks seems like a lifetime away! But then I thought if something does happened its likely to be in the next few weeks anyway xx

BGxxx · 06/06/2025 16:12

I know people who have seen their baby with a healthy heartbeat on a scan and never got a 3+
However I’ve also been in the same position as you and it wasn’t good news for me so I think it can either way

Oh that is a long wait. Bless you
really hope it’s good news for you- have you stopped testing all together?

I completely understand it could go either way. Time will tell- this is the absolute worst part of pregnancy and ttc for me. The wait is just torture!

Thank you! It was in Feb and I’m pregnant again since so hopefully all okay this time! It really is the worst, and the anxiety of the test not saying what you hoped is just awful 😭
I’m also 6w2d tomorrow and have a scan so we’re in it together xx

lnks · 06/06/2025 18:02

I would be quite careful with such early scans. I know a few women who have had them at a similar weeks of pregnancy who have been told they can’t see a heartbeat on the scan. All of them went on the have normal, healthy pregnancies, but they spent weeks feeling distraught and anxious.

so please bear that in mind when you have your scan.

Hey all my fingers crossed for you. With my successful pregnancy with my son, the weeks indicator tests never moved from 1-2 weeks! Used them up until 6 weeks. I've since called them the devil! They get so much bad press and tons of stories that they don't progress Xx

i don’t know if this is aimed at me or OP, but I had an ectopic pregnancy so early scans are essential for me!

I’m in a similar situation 5+6 today finally got 2-3 on Monday and was really hoping for 3+ today but still got 2-3, I have a scan tomorrow, wishing you so much luck today let us know how it goes!

@WillowRose1411 hope your scan went okay if you’ve had it already! Mine was earlier this morning, measuring 6w2d and saw the heartbeat so big relief

So relieved and happy for you.
mine wasn’t so positive unfortunately. I was measuring 4 weeks 5 days and I am definitely at least 6 weeks as I got my first bfp 3 weeks ago so there’s no way I ovulated any later.
my husband is clinging on to hope but he doesn’t understand- the sonograpger also tried to reassure me but I just know it isnt good news.
not sure I can take 2 weeks of waiting and wish I’d just miscarry now :(
