Insomnia - will it last through the pregnancy?

I am just over four weeks gone and have had insomnia since before I found out I was pg. So I am absolutely exhausted during the day.

Anyone got any tips or reassurance that once my body adjusts to being pg this will go away?

Things change a lot during pg, hopefully this is a passing phase. I had periods of sleeplessness but they did go away. I do feel for you, early pg is knackering anyway.

Thanks Constance, I will just have to hope!

it should ease and then come back towards the end again......and then you have the baby and wondered why you ever thought you might sleep again in any case!

I agree with everyone else - I went through this and it is easing off in the second trimester. I think that everyone gets insomnia at the end though, it's just so uncomfortable to have a huge bump!

So just another 8 weeks without sleep? I suppose it will be training of a sort

I know, it drove me nuts too. I was really exhausted in my first pregnancy, but at least for the first two trimesters I slept like the dead (for 12 hours a night if I could!). This time around I was waking up at 3am bright as a button and then crashing at 6am just as DD was waking up.
But at least it shouldn't go on for another 36 weeks.

That is exactly my problem - I wake at 3am and can't go back to sleep, no matter what.
