Embarrassed about down there

Sorry, a little personal.. but I’m 33 weeks pregnant with second and down there is very big and swollen, and I’m embarrassed for the birth. It isnt a very neat area anyway, so with the added swelling it is extra embarrassing. Please help to make me feel better!!

@Pregandcounting your hormones make everything swell up.... when my son was born his body was quite swollen in certain places.....its the hormones apparently. 😳

Sarahjayneisapain · 04/06/2025 22:20

There’s nothing you could possibly have down there that they haven’t seen a thousand times. Honestly, nothing. They don’t even think about it.

Pinkelephant66 · 04/06/2025 22:23

Of course it’s going to be swollen- look at the extra weight you’re carrying at 33 weeks.
this should honestly be the least of your worries!
good luck

Like varicose veins of the vulva?
Honestly op you are growing a baby!!
Be proud of that fanjo!! It's done the making now it needs to do the birthing!!
It's a marvellous thing!!
And it seriously can't be as grim as a flaccid penis and wrinkly balls!!

IReallyLoveItHere · 04/06/2025 22:25

Got to admit I had no idea what it looked like past 6 months, are you using a mirror or something?

You have nothing they haven't seen before and there will be far more exciting things happening. You also won't be bothered at that point so best to put it out of your mind.

Ohhh don't worry! You're fine. With DS I wasn't too bad, but with DD I was so so swollen with an uncomfortably fat vulva. It's nothing to be embarrassed about - just your body doing it's thing to grow your baby. Totally normal!

HibbyW · 04/06/2025 22:32

P.S I went for a bikini and leg wax at 38wk which is totally unnecessary from a medical pov, or any pov in fact, but it did make me feel more comfortable about the upcoming midwife appointments, hospital stay etc

The other thing is, when you're having contractions and pushing out a baby, you don't give a flying fuck what you look like x

HiCandles · 04/06/2025 22:38

Does it ache and hurt? Especially after a long day?
If so, sounds like varicose veins of the vulva. Quite common in pregnancy to a mild extent, but I had it very severely. It was horribly achy and painful. I found the V2 It's You Babe pelvic support belt fabulous. It holds everything up and I wore it daily from 12 weeks until delivery. Totally recommend.

Cheffymcchef · 04/06/2025 22:40

The doctors have seen everything.

Justalittlehotpotato · 04/06/2025 22:52

Reading your post, I now recall that I had very swollen bits actually! Not only did I forget (my kid is only two), but I can assure you that it really was the last thing my mind when you take into account the part where you’ve to worry about birthing a human. They will have seen it all, honestly, don’t spare it another thought

PinkPrawns2 · 04/06/2025 23:14

Mine was so swollen it was felt like I was sitting on a bowling ball. Even my midwife (and colleague) commented when doing my stretch and sweep 😆 honestly we've seen it all before.

Lolopolo · 04/06/2025 23:36

Mine was so swollen I couldn’t walk 😂 I felt like Buster Gonad

Beachesandpeaches · 04/06/2025 23:36

Oh don’t worry.
Totally normal- it’s the hormones .
Mine was deffo more gruffalo than skinny pig during my pregnancies.

These made me laugh thank you it is a bit ugly on a normal day but it now looks like a big fat pastrami sandwich which is why I am mortified but you’re right when it is the time to show it I won’t care

You honestly won't give a shit when in labour! Nor about pooing yourself if that happens 🤣

Nothing they haven't seen before.

flowerpink · 05/06/2025 08:36

Oh don't worry OP!! The midwifes have seen so much worse! X
