Dates not adding up

Hello all, looking for advice.
so based on my period dates I should be 10 weeks, I had a reassurance scan today (internal) and it showed a gestational sac of 6 weeks and 3 days 😳 has anyone gone through similar?

Are you sure of your ovulation? Could it have been a bleed and not an actual period so you might be less far along than you think? Unfortunately measuring that far behind can sometimes mean the baby has stopped growing :( obviously please don't take my word for it as you could just not be as far along as you think! Did they say anything to you about the dates?

I'm sorry OP, when I had a scan at 10 weeks because I was having some bleeding it also showed a gestational age of more like 6 weeks. It was because it had stopped growing and I started to miscarry the next day.

Was the scan a proper hospital one or a private one? If hospital they should have given you some advice about what it might mean. It could be that your dates are out and your last period was actually an ovulation bleed as PP said but I would prepare for bad news. Sympathy if it is bad news.

So I had a private scan on the 25/05 they said they dates were wrong sac growth was 1.8 and that they couldn't find a fetus so they referred me to my local hospital, then on the 03/06 I had the scan at the hospital, they didn't really say much about the sac measurements but they found the fetus and that was 3.2 in growth. I asked if everything had grown since the private scan and she assured me that everything had but they also said the dates were really not measuring up

My lmp date would never match up because I ovulate alot later in my cycle. Is it possible you ovulated later? X

Sorry OP but if your dates are that far out it doesn’t sound good. I have had this twice and both pregnancies ended up in miscarriages. I did have successful pregnancies as well though. Hope all ends well for you 💐.

I've always tracked my periods but my last period was very short, it's not looking good as the dates don't even match up to when I took the first pregnancy test 💔

Can I ask how far long you were when you did miscarry?

Hi

the first time they said I was small for my dates but the pregnancy continued until
i was about 12 weeks and then I miscarried.

The next time they said I was small for dates and I knew that when I had taken the pregnancy test meant I had to have been 4 weeks so dates didn’t add up. This time it was a missed miscarriage and so I had to go to hospital for the tablets and I think I was about 9 or 10 weeks by the time I had scans that showed no heart beat and no growth.

Sorry this is happening for you and sorry I am a bit vague but it was all between 20 and 25 years ago. I had 4 miscarriages in total but only 2 were when I was showing up as small for dates. The others were either very early or showed at my 13 week scan.

Thank you for sharing, I'm sorry you've had to go through that. I sound very similar to what you've explained the dates don't add up from when I took the pregnancy test and the Gestational age but I really don't understand because from the first scan till the second it has grown 😕

I was 10 days behind with one pregnancy at 7.5 weeks and that pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 10.5 weeks. A repeat scan at 9.5 weeks showed the pregnancy had likely ended although it had grown from the previous acan. I had a scan booked to confirm a week later at the epu but had started bleeding the night before and passed the pregnancy the evening after the last scan.
I had had a previous miscarriage at 10 weeks a few months earlier but I hadn't had any scans in that pregnancy so I don't know the gestational age of that pregnancy but I suspect it was similar to the other as the pregnancies passed in a similar way.

I'd would be preparing for the worst unfortunately. I had my early scans at the hospital in their rainbow room and there were two factors that made them suspect I was going to lose the pregnancy - the dates didn't match up and the growth between scans wasn't consistent with the time interval. It was like the embryo never really got going properly so it was growing but much slower than it ought to have done. This stopped around 9 weeks by which point it was 3 weeks behind.

It took 3 scans to confirm that the pregnancy had indeed ended. At this point I was offered various options - wait for my body to pass the pregnancy, take the medication to bring on the loss or surgical intervention. As I had already started bleeding I asked for a few days to see if my body would pass the pregnancy on its own and if it didn't I would have accepted the pills. They made sure the pregnancy has ended by this point and that two sonographers agreed.
