Hi just looking for some advice as I don’t seem to be getting anywhere with midwife’s and doctors!
I am 32 weeks pregnant and for around 6 weeks now I have been having really bad headaches. My urine has protein in but they said they are not worried as it’s not a lot, my blood pressure seems to be normal a couple times it’s been a bit high but they just retake it until it goes back normal. I do get blurry vision an odd time in one eye but it only lasts a couple of minutes. Some days my headaches can be there but I can cope with them other days they are there for days and days and they are so severe I have to lie in a dark room. I have tried paracetamol, ibuprofen and dihydracodeine which the midwife prescribed (I only took one as I don’t like taking them they make me feel sick) none of these help. Both of my feet suddenly went swollen and bruised the other day which has never happened before but they wasn’t concerned enough to see me. I just feel so fed up I don’t no what else to do I’m worried incase something is wrong with me or the baby and they just aren’t taking me seriously I have 3 other kids and the headaches are making everyday life really difficult. Has anyone had this before?
thank you in advance

OP please go and get your eyes tested. Explain that you're getting bad headaches and at times blurry vision in the one eye. They have equipment to check for things like blood clots or something wrong.
Hopefully you are fine and nothing like this is wrong but please get checked just incase 🙏🏾

OP I would ask for another doctor’s review, obstetric physician if you are in a big centre. Which doctors have you seen? Just GP or an obstetrician too? What are your protein levels? And what blood pressure reads have you been getting? Have they done some extra blood tests to rule out pre eclampsia at present? Bottom line if you are getting headaches this bad, and it’s not the norm for you, they should be doing more to assess and definitely to help with symptoms so that you can function, assuming they can rule out preeclampsia.

Bad headaches without pre eclampsia can be more common in pregnancy and there are other treatments. Codeine isn’t a great one, often makes headaches worse. Wouldn’t take ibuprofen - not good for you at this stage of pregnancy.

I am about an 1 hours drive from the big hospital but I have been there a couple times, when they checked my blood pressure they just said it was a bit on the high side took it a couple more times until it went back to normal. I’m sure she said I had 1 protein in my pee (I’m not sure what that means) I’ve had blood tests so I don’t think they are worried it’s pre eclampsia. Thank you for your advice I just hope they can help with the headaches as some days they can be really painful x
