About going overdue - does having a 35 day cycle make it more likely that you'll be overdue?

My cycle is generally 35 days ie my period comes every 35 days - quite heavy. Is it more likely that I'll be overdue? Anyone been in a similar situation? I'm REALLY hoping for a homebirth but am trying to mentally prepare myself in case it doesn't work out.

As far as I know, you are more likely to be over due. If you really want a home birth, hang on untill you are atleat 14 days overdue.

Have similar cycle and was 11 days overdue. Was beginning to think I was having a 10 month pregnancy!

Right!
term pregnancy in humans is from 37 - 42 weeks, this takes account of the variation in cycle length - the 40 weeks thing was invented by a male doctor a couple of centuries ago,but is complete tripe. If you have a longer cycle then you will have a longer pregnancy - if you were induced according to the usual schedule, your baby would most likely be born earlier than nature intended.
On the Homebirth side of things, you can't be refused a homebirth on the grounds of 'overdue' if that is what you want,if you really want that, i'd put 'hoping' to bed as that is too much like waiting to be told 'no' . I'd then go over to the AIMS website and Angela Horn's site and get yourself armed with the words you need to get what you want(it's pretty vital be informed as you WILL be told allsorts).
The NCT have a list of homebirth support groups as well, which can be very useful and if cybersupport is more your thing there's UKHomebirth on yahoo groups
happy surfing!

I have a 35 ish day cycle and my baies came at 37+1 and 38+2.

I have long cycles, anything from 32 to 42 days long and I was never overdue. First was 4 weeks early, 2nd 28 weeks and 3rd 39 weeks.

As long as you worked out your due date taking into account your cycle length, or are going by a 12 week scan date, then it won't make the blindest bit of difference.
