Concerning pregnancy tests?

Hello experienced all or all hovering on the post for a similar reason to me,

I have recently got a positive pregnancy test. But after having chemical pregnancy’s in the past I’m on edge. My chemical pregnancy never got as far as registering on clear blue tests. But they have now (1-2 weeks in digital one).

The early response ones are super dark and the cheapy test ones (which aren’t early response) started faint and got a bit darker but after 4 days isn’t getting darker and now I’m stressing!

It’s still super early (like SUPER early - AF not due for another week/week and a half and I’ve known for 3 days already). I have a wee bit of nausea but nothing insane, years of indigestion has me pretty indifferent to it, no other symptoms as such.

Do these pictures look normal? Is it normal for the non early responses to not get darker?

Hi,

Firstly, congratulations on your BFP!

of AF isn’t due for a 7-10 days that would put you at 4-7 DPO? Assuming your cycle is 28 days? I’m hoping I’m mathing the maths right? Please correct me if not?

if so, I’d say your tests are really dark for that stage. I got my BFP at 9 DPO last week and it was less B, hardly F but a P.

Of course you know your body but are your dates right? X

I think with the darkness of those lines you must be around 14dpo at least so probably around your period due? If you were only 7dpo you would have a very faint line. But yep normal for non early response ones to darken slowly! Your lines look great!

Guant · 29/05/2025 12:47

Those tests are too dark for your dates. You must be further on than you think. It may be worth while looking into getting a scan in about 3 weeks to check.

Thanks for replying.

I am so confused! My cycle is 26 days and the first day of my last period was 17 days ago…I think I will call the docs.

As others have said the dates and the darkness of your tests don’t seem to be matching up! They are very strong positives!

fairgame84 · 29/05/2025 15:32

Was your last period normal? I'm wondering if you conceived on your last cycle?
The darkness of those lines look like you expect after AF is due.

lightslittle · 29/05/2025 15:58

Were you tracking ovulation at all? Maybe you ovulate early in your cycle.

I have a 23-26 days cycle, and ovulate early, but wouldn’t have shown as a positive on a test until the day before / day off period?

lightslittle · 29/05/2025 15:59

Or could it be a multiple pregnancy maybe so higher levels of hcg?

CrazyDogLasyOM · 29/05/2025 18:36

I tracked ovulation this month and these were the strips. CD5 was the day my period stopped. My cycle is 26 days. Someone said multiple and that makes me stress!

What cycle day are you on now? How many DPO do you think you are?

The tests are still too dark even for multiples in my opinion.

CrazyDogLasyOM · 29/05/2025 20:22

according to my tracking I am on day 18 out of 26. My predicted day of ovulation was 23rd May, first test was 25th May (I know this is scientifically impossible).

my peak ovulation according to my strips above was day 12 (22nd May). I only checked for pregnancy because the LH tests stayed consistently high which it doesn’t normally do.

You definitely either conceived last cycle and the period you had was implantation bleeding, or you actually had a weird early ovulation and the high ovulation tests were picking up the pregnancy. Even with something like triplets you wouldn’t get lines like that at like 5/6dpo.

Yellowdaff25 · 29/05/2025 20:34

I also feel like the high ovulation tests may have been picking up the pregnancy. I did an LH test on a whim at 4 weeks and it was a blazing positive. Could you get a digital to at least give you more on an idea of weeks?

MissSmiley · 29/05/2025 20:43

I think you conceived last cycle, those tests are way too dark for being early. I have twins and tested early (ivf) and they weren't that dark

CrazyDogLasyOM · 29/05/2025 21:59

So the digital one said 1-2 weeks on Tuesday and 2-3 weeks today (Thursday).

I could be possible my period was implantation, it was lighter than usual but still heavy enough to need pads for the whole 4 days. And I tested 2 days before my period that cycle and it was negative - it could be because it wasn’t the early detection ones.

I mean I am over the moon it’s not currently acting like my last chemical pregnancy obviously!!

I am going to ring the doctors in the morning and ask for a telephone appointment.

thanks everyone for their input, I do appreciate the answers, it’s helping my brain stop over thinking at least!

Called the doctor and they said to date from last menstrual period which was 12th May which makes me just under 3 weeks…

They said normal protocol applied and no scan til 12 weeks!

I would try arrange a private scan if I was you! They are not too expensive xx

I think I’d look into getting a private scan personally. Only because some tests can only be done before a certain time and if you turn up to your 12 week scan and you’re really 16 weeks or similar you will have missed the opportunity for them.

CrazyDogLasyOM · 06/06/2025 17:23

Just and update for people:

this ended in an ectopic pregnancy at four weeks. hcg levels were high so it was growing but I went to A&E with extreme pain and it was explored, found and operated on.

I now only have a right tube.

wish me all the luck for success in pregnancies in the future 🥺

@CrazyDogLasyOM I'm so sorry to hear that. Just know your other tube can pick up the slack and get eggs from both sides, so a successful pregnancy is still very likely for you. Fingers crossed for you going forward x
