The whole date/how far along am I is CONFUSING me :)

Ok so I learned on here that your dates include an additional 2 weeks period prior to conception so I get that now (thank you to the kind member who explained that - sorry i can't remember name) BUT now I am confused by my weeks.

So using an online calculator and going by my last period (3 April on a 29 day cycle) I am 8 weeks today. BUT that same site is also advising I am in my NINTH week of pregnancy.... is that right/obvious as i can't work my head around it 😂The NHS website only shows me due date but not how many weeks and days.

This has absolutely NOTHING to do with the fact that I am counting down as to when the nausea is likely to peak 😆

You are starting your ninth week of pregnancy in the same way a baby's first year of life is from 0-1 year old, when they turn 1 they enter the second year of their life and so on.
It is confusing! Nausea is rough in the first trimester but usually settles by 12 weeks. Speak to your GP about antisickness medication if you are finding it particularly debilitating.

Ah ok - that makes sense. And i did wonder if that was the case. My nausea has been really bad the last couple of weeks but I am noticing an improvement this week. Given I am at the 8th/9th week mark which, from what I read is generally when it can peak, I was getting a little suspicious that I am being led into a false sense of security before it peaks with a vengeance.

To be honest though it is manageable. Bloody horrible but I don't think it is bad enough to warrant any medication yet. I am taking B6 and got into a routine of when I need to eat. I also drink iced water with lemon and ginger (I rotate bottles in the freezer lol) throughout the day and wear the seabands and I can generally manage (although I did spend the whole of last weekend in bed) If it stays like this I can cope, I am just dreading any peak that is coming to hit me like a tonne of bricks. But from what I can tell there is no way of knowing as everyone is so different so I am also just trying to take each day at a time :)

If it helps, mine has always hit hard at 6 weeks, been rough from weeks 6-8, and then got slowly better until 12 weeks when it disappears altogether. So my peak, if you like, is always about 7 weeks. We're all different.

That is good to know! And I know I should take it as it comes and stop trying to work it out but I like hearing stories like yours that give me hope I could potentially be over the worst of it for a bit. We shall see. It is just nice to be able to eat again without gagging just as the thought of food
