I am 35 weeks. They are a bit swollen but not too bad. It's just the stiffness. Wonder if anyone else has had anything similar?

Yep, but in my feet. All swelled up like balloons and bending my toes (when walking iyswim) is quite stiff and painful but nothing to be concerned about according to my midwife. Just one of those annoying pregnancy niggles.

Lovely. Thanks! Don't have midwife again until next wednesday.

Yea. i'm 34 weeks. I have the same thing. It's normal

I have that too but I suffer with Carpul Tunnel Syndrone. Very common in pregnancy but I got it before so being pregnant made it worse. Nothing you can do I'm affraid appart from move your hands a lot and drink plenty of water x

Yeah, had this with my first, and it took ages after the birth to go. Like Weeze says, it's Carpal Tunnel and it's very common to get it in pregnancy. Once you've had the baby it does go away eventually.

weeze201 · 24/05/2008 22:22

Yep i am hoping that mine goes away after the birth too but am not sure it will as I had it before pregnancy? Another way to relieve it is to run cold water over your wrists (takes the swelling down) and if it is extreme in the night wear wrist supports. Sorry i have nothing else to suggest x

Yes I did with my first pregnancy but not the second. Like you, a bit swollen, but not too bad. Also found my grip was weak. Was diagnosed with Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, but don't actually think it was (pain wasn't sharp enough). It went away immediately after the birth and never came back.

moocowme · 25/05/2008 21:18

yep had it in first and it wenr about a week after the birth. kept my hands above my head as much as possible to reduce the pressure. was worse first thing in the morning.

weeze201 · 25/05/2008 22:32

Yeah mine is much worse in the morning! Feel like I can't close my hand into a fist it is that stiff! Hope fully it will go soon as I am 6 days overdue and due to be induced on Friday x
