Just checking in right, if the mum or partner earns 80k or more you won’t get child benefit as you’d have to pay it all back and child tax credit has gone…so there is nothing from the government from couples that earn more. Just want to be sure I’m understanding the guidance correctly?

Claim it for the NI credits, but opt out of receiving payments so you don’t have to pay it back.

Childcare hours (depending on UK nation) until 100k highest earner salary.

There are some deductions from the 80k salary for child benefit such as pension contributions

Yes that’s correct, if one of you earns £80k or more after pension contribution then there’s no child benefit. It tapers from £60k, of both of you earn under £60k you get full child benefit.

Under £100k though and you get tax free childcare and 30 funded hours form 9 months old if both of you are working.
