6 week 5 days empty gestational sac

Hey, I’m hoping to hear some success stories 😔

I went for an early scan on Saturday at what I thought was 6 week 5 days, I had both abdominal and transvaginal ultrasound.

All she could see was an empty gestational sac. The measurements were 12.7mm x8.9mm x9.1mm, no yolk/ fetal pole was seen.
after a google, I think the mean size of the sack is around 9.5-10mm.

I have an appointment with the EPU tomorrow for a scan ( the other one was private).

i know peoples dates can be wrong which is what the sonographer said, but I’m praying I see a difference on tomorrows scan with the NHS , I’m not expecting much with only being 3 days after the initial scan.

i have been referred to the EPU for “ pregnancy of unknown location” .

3 possibilities.

1. it’s just too early to see anything
2. ectopic ( however she could see anything in tubes etc
3. miscarriage

my cycles length has been changing , last 2 months have been 25 days, LMP 7/4/25, first faint positive test was on 26/4/25.

im hoping someone has been in the same situation as me and all turned out to be fine.

im not delusional, i know its not looking good, but im trying to stay hopeful

Hi sweet, I didn’t have the same myself however my best friend did, she had the exact same and they told her out right it was ectopic and sent her to A&E.

It wasn’t. She was a week earlier than she thought thinking she was 6+5 but actually around 5+3, she had a scan a week later and there was everything you’d expect to see, that baby is now 8 months old.
