hi all, looking for advice please? i’m turning 12 weeks on monday, this is my 2nd ivf pregnancy and i’m turning 42, also on sertraline and thyroxine so seen as a high risk pregnancy. i started taking aspirin on my positive test as advised by clinic however had a few episodes of bleeding, in fact i have had all colours! all scans have been fine and hematoma was confirmed at 6 weeks. my hematoma has now shrunk alot but i’m conscious it’s still there however small. i’m due to start aspirin on monday when i turn 12 weeks, i paused the aspirin when the bleeding started. i cannot tell you how terrified i am to restart! i wasn’t on aspirin in my last pregnancy and had no bleeding so in my mind i put the bleeding down to having started aspirin even though i know hematomas are so common especially in ivf pregnancies. i had a scan last week at 11,3 and all well, baby measuring ahead and a low risk nipt. has anyone had any experience of taking aspirin after having a hematoma? did the bleeding restart? my last episode was pink spotting 2 weeks ago. it’s so exhausting waiting for bleeding to restart! i know i should trust my consultant and midwives but the anxiety so bad in regards to this potential bleeding reoccurring.
thanks so much x

I was found to have a SCH on my 12 week scan. It wasn’t there on my 8 week scan so developed some time between 8 and 12 weeks. But I didn’t have any bleeding or pain. It was an incidental finding. I started aspirin at 14 weeks and took it until 36 weeks. I never bled from my SCH and it was never mentioned again.

I think you need to ask the doctor for advice but when I had an SCH the doctor told me to stop taking aspirin as it crosses the placenta, but to continue taking blood thinning injections which do not.

@DreamJG hi, just wondering how you got on ? I have been told I have a hematoma , 8+3 baby measuring spot on, but I am on Inhixa blood thinner injections. Wasn’t sure whether to stop the blood thinners ? Did you continue to take them ? Thanks

hi there, i actually paused my aspirin until 12 lweeks under the guidance of my consultant. i never bled again until 30 weeks which is when i commenced blood thinner injections funnily enough, also under the guidance of my consultant i paused for a few days. it never did me any harm and im having my baby this morning by c section. bleeding is so horrible but my hematoma was Away by 12 weeks so please don’t worry. they are incredibly common as stressful as they are. please speak to your midwife or consultant before stopping anything as your reason for taking them is completely different to mine. sending you love xxxx
