Low PAPP-A

Hello 💞. 12 weeks pregnant with baby number 2.
Just found out that although my combined test showed low chances of the syndromes (and so did a private NIPT I did 2 weeks ago), my PAPP-A is ‘marginally low and not within the threshold’. I have been sent a leaflet and have to wait 3 weeks to speak to a midwife or consultant (unsure which one) about it. I’m completely confused and tbh anxious and really down about it. Anyone with similar experience or any knowledge on the matter? Thank you! Xx

My papp a was low. Apparently I was told early on (I wasn't), so when I went in for growth scan at 38 weeks I was told I was being induced at this was always the plan due to papp a being low, I had no idea. So there's a chance you might have to be induced also but check because I had my birth plan and this completely f* it up last minute

Hi, I had the same diagnosis as you - was prescribed aspirin and all worked out fine. Healthy and happy baby. I remember feeling anxious too so didn’t want to read and run!

@ZebraPrintthow crazy that they thought you knew!! Sorry to hear your birth plan went out the window! I suppose the only positive is that you didn’t have the added stress throughout the pregnancy? Xx

I also had low Papp A and had to take asprin and had regular growth scans following my 20 week scan. I had no issues at all as a result of the low Papp A, my blood pressure is another matter…! Hope everything goes smoothly for you!

That's true! Turned out nothing went to plan anyway but all it was still great xx

I had this 15 years ago with DS. He’s doing fine.

WinterCarlisle · 24/05/2025 21:46

I had a “pathologically” low PAPP-A with my 3rd. I had to have regular scans (2-4 weeks) and 75mg aspirin a day, DS was born at full term and was smaller than my other two but otherwise completely healthy. He’s now 12, tall, clever and apart from having ADHD, completely healthy and totally lovely.

Best of luck

Mine was low, caused no issues whatsoever, I took aspirin until I was I think 34 weeks and received regular growth scans

I ended up with preeclampsia and having an emergency c-section at 33 weeks, but all is good now 8 months on!
