My sil got married late 30s and had to have fertility treatment and started ivf but become pregnant naturally at 39 she had 2 miscarriages and then concieved again naturally at 41 whe gave birth to healthy twin girls who are now 3 she has a very regular cycle normally and hasent been using contraception this year as she believes with the problems she had and her age now being older it's very unlikley to happen but she would be happy if she did.she's currently 44 to be 45 in november and is 3 days late ive told her its a possibility she should test soon but she doesent believe me is there anyone here had natural pregnancy at that age i can show her you're story ?

Most people don’t go through menopause that early, so if she’s still having periods she can get pregnant. Stop pressuring her to do a test, she will do one in her own time if she doesn’t come on her period soon.

I have a friend who conceived her DS naturally at 44 and initially thought it was the start of menopause. She already had a teenage
DD but had “secondary infertility” subsequently and thought a second child was off the cards.

Well she’ll find out soon enough won’t she. 🤷‍♀️

Mumsntfan1 · 23/05/2025 07:31

It's possible but why the need to test straight away?

Phunkychicken · 23/05/2025 07:34

both my mum and step mum had babies at 44, those babies are 38 and 41 respectively so absolutely yes it's possible

Also Cherie Blair

Of course it’s possible that she could be pregnant. Your 40s can be a fertile time for women. It’s like your body puts in a real last big effort to get pregnant before you hit menopause. Either way, I hope your SIL is happy with whatever happens.

My friend got pregnant at 44. My grandmother had a baby at 45 (must have been 44 at conception).

My cousin is 49, and has long covid and they tested her to see if her symptoms could be due to perimenopause instead and discovered she hadn't started it yet, she is still ovulating and warned her she could still get pregnant.

If she wanted to Google this she could.
I don't see your need to harass her about this.

Yes, me. He is now 21

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 23/05/2025 10:26

Me. I had a baby at 45 and he’s a beautiful 8 year old now. Easy pregnancy and delivery too.

CagneyNYPD1 · 23/05/2025 11:48

Yes, a friend of mine conceived her first baby at 47. No IVF etc. Healthy baby born a couple of years ago.

it is known that hormones can go a bit loopy during peri and your body can have a last “hurrah”. Hence the increase in libido that some women experience.

That said, it is entirely up to your SIL if she wants to test.

My nan thought she was menopausal at 44/45. The menopause is now in her 40s herself!
Definitely possible!
