Acetone in Nail Polish Remover

Can anybody reassure me that I haven’t done untold damage to my baby. I was taking off nail polish and had bought some new nail polish remover. It was expensive and for some inexplicable reason I thought it might smell nice and sniffed it. Of course it smelled entirely of acetone. It has irritated my nose and eyes but I don’t care about that. I’m wondering if we could have hurt my baby by breathing in the fumes. I am quite anxious and know I could be overthinking…

Definitely over thinking
I ,funnily enough, just sniffed my bottle to undo the disaster my dc6 did on my toes the other week as it was advertised to smell nice. Which it kind of does after the chemical smell wears off 😅

Rule of thumb with most of these things is if its enough to make YOU unwell then it could be a problem. A little sniff of something strong smelling here and there isn't an issue. Remember, your placenta is an impressive organ who's job is to filter toxins. Pregnant women are going encounter all sorts of things from the environment and if a little sniff was going to cause an issue then how would any of us have healthy babies, y'know?

Totally overthinking.. 100%.

Thanks all. I’ve managed to laugh at myself a bit. I know it’s ridiculous really. Pregnancy is making me doubt myself all the time!

Hello I'm a lab user and do annual risk assessments for various things including acetone.
There's no risk to pregnancy and I was able to keep using it in the lab whilst pregnant. There were things I had to stop using but acetone wasn't one of them.
