i went for a scan at what i thought was 5w3d and only seen the gestational sac but no yolk sac - i have PCOS and worked out that my period cycles vary from 29 days to 35 days so i averaged it out to 33 days and it came back that i could of been 4w3d at the scan - I have a scan tomorrow to see if anything is there but did any of you experience no yolk sac on your 5 week scan or do you think my gestational age was miscalculated??

i have health anxiety and this is my first after 4 years of trying so any advice would be amazing

yes. One is slapping my thighs and the other is screaming for her jacket. 4 miscarriages due to APS so I had very early scans with both of them. Horrible tense wait to see if they grew.

if you have PCOS then the standard dating method (from last period) will not work for you. It’s based on the average - 28 day cycle, ovulate day 14, implant on day 5, etc. if you have a 33 day cycle, ovulate on day 19, implant on day 9 then you could be up to 2 weeks earlier than dates by last period. My cycle is also not the average cycle. I was always 2 weeks behind, which always caused worry. 2 weeks later, what would have been 8 weeks from last period, before anything appeared in the sac.

This is what the recurrent miscarriage clinic told me. Scans before 6 weeks are to check the pregnancy is in the right place. Your pregnancy is in the right place and you are pregnant today. Good luck xx

@AllThePotatoesAreSinging thank you - i keep doing pregnancy tests and its still showing positive im just nervous for tomorrow and hope i see something there but i guess if im 2 weeks earlier than expected i wont see anything again they did say something was casting a shadow during the scan could of been the probe or a fibroid so i dont know if that effects the picture.
my last period was 07.04.25 and i was due my period on 11.05.25 so thats 35 days so i assume im earlier than what im thinking
