I am after some advice/opinions please? I have been trying to get pregnant for 18 months, l've had irregular bleeding + months of no bleeding, and an ultrasound in Feb 2025 showed signs of potential adenomyosis + 5.5cm ovarian cysts.

I tested positive on a pregnancy test a week ago today, and ever since I've had spotting (brown streaked discharge) and on 2 separate occasions, I had pink/red when I wiped after a wee, which went back to brown each time. I have had cramps in the bottom of my stomach every day, how you get when your periods due.

I am absolutely terrified that my tests aren't getting darker, combined with these symptoms.

I've attached a pic of yet another test l've taken, which is positive but it just isn't very dark and as you can see, the other tests over the last week haven't got any darker.

Does anyone have similar stories & what was the outcome for you? Thank you x

I’m really sorry, it must be so torturous for you, but I think you need to get a digital. You need to collect a sample and dip the test in, rather than peeing on the test.
None of the tests look right really, they are incomplete lines, too thin or grey, and yesterdays one has dye bleed in the window.
best wishes Flowers

Hello,
Thank you for your reply, I don’t think it’s a great pic of the tests, I read the results on all of them within a minute or two of doing them. I did a digital last Monday when I first saw a cross on the clear blue, and that was positive & same again on Friday when I tested again (bit obsessed with testing given what’s going on!). I’ve got a digital to do again in the morning.
Ive paid for a private ultrasound on Friday to try and get some reassurance, it’s hellish!x

I’m really sorry to say but this sounds very similar to my two chemical pregnancies. I really hope it isn’t for your sake. I hope the private ultrasound goes well and wish you all the luck and baby dust in the world xx

ELSmith12 · 20/05/2025 17:28

I’m so sorry for losses x

I have been doing a lot of googling and thought it sounded like a possible chemical pregnancy. Desperately wishing the days away to get to Friday for some answers and hopefully some good news. Absolutely mentally drained!x

Bless you, I really feel for you, it’s the hardest thing in the world when it’s up in the air and you just want answers. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you for Friday and hopefully if you do another digital test in the morning it may make things a bit clearer as well xx

Thank you so much ❤️

The last pic of the singular clear blue (stop wasting your money on these haha) with the cross looks much darker than the rest of the tests?
Was the the latest one?

ELSmith12 · 20/05/2025 17:39

The price of clear blue is insane! But they’re the only ones that seem to be clear enough.

The one in the pic above, with the cross, is from last Tuesday, I did another one yesterday but the picture isn’t great! I think it looks quite a lot lighter, I’ve attached it to this reply.

I did a digital on Monday last week which said positive & same again on Friday.

It does look a little lighter?
But honestly I'd step away from the daily testing. You're going ro drive yourself insane.
Tests can only tell you if you are producing hcg nothing more.
So as of now you are pregnant, hopefully on Friday the scan can clear some things up.

Have you had your bloods taken? It would be a much more reliable indicator of if things are heading south (or in a positive direction)
If you do feel the need to test, i always used one step strips in my pregnancies (also suffered with mcs so understand the need sometimes) or with I guess the equivalent in the uk woild be boots own brand.
But you might bankrupt yourself with tests that are very unreliable for a lot of people haha

ELSmith12 · 20/05/2025 20:39

I think I’m going to leave the testing, as you say, I’ll be bankrupt before the weekend thanks to clear blue and I don’t feel like it’s really very reassuring any more! I’m already off work because I’m so mentally drained after these last 7 days, so I think I’ll try and ride it out to Fridays early scan.

I did ask about having my bloods taken when I spoke to my midwife & she advised me to ring the early pregnancy unit and when I spoke to them, they said I shouldn’t have phoned them, and they won’t do anything until I’m 6+ weeks, I was 5 weeks & 1 day when I spoke to them.
I was really hoping for peace of mind that someone would help and at least do some bloods since it was too soon for an ultrasound.
I was advised by them to just wait & do another pregnancy test in 3 weeks - I think I’d explode if I waited 3 weeks, so paid for my own private scan on Friday.

really appreciate your replies & advice/thoughts x

I totally get it. The first 12 weeks are the most horrendous wait filled with anxiety and unknowns.
Not much we can do other than wait it out and hope for the best.
Are you heading back to work soon to help take your mind off things do you think?
Distraction is the best way to go about it I found! And lots of knicker checks 😅

ELSmith12 · 20/05/2025 21:30

I was going to go back tomorrow but I started spotting again earlier after about 24 hours of not, and I feel like I’ve set myself back a little. I only work Monday - Thursday, so think I’ll take this week off & get the scan on Friday & hopefully that’ll be the reassurance I needed.
God this is hellish! I had a baby at 22 (10 years ago), totally unplanned, and zero concerns with any of this, I woke up and projectile vomited every day for 33 weeks and had my healthy son. I seriously took it for granted.
I think some normality will be needed soon, my partner isn’t being overly supportive any more. Few more days of knicker and tissue wiping before some answers 🤞🏼😊 x
