I can remember the excitement when I lost mine, first baby arrived two weeks later! Good luck

ThisPithyJoker · 16/05/2025 17:58

I lost mine at about 5pm and went into labour in the night. Baby arrived at lunchtime. No idea if that's typical though, sorry!

Wazzalass · 16/05/2025 18:08

Oh so could be anytime then, this was about 3pm yesterday so? I just heard somewhere that if it's not your first baby when you lose it it can be a matter of days but if your first could be upto a few weeks before? I'll just try to wait it out patiently😂

The plug can regenerate so it doesn’t mean much. It’s the bloody show that means labour is imminent.

Wazzalass · 16/05/2025 18:12

Oh right ok,it wasn't bloody at all just a lot of mucousy gunk so sorry for being tmi,I think I remember the bloody show with my daughter but was well into labor by then just never seen the mucus plug before, after losing the lot I had yesterday it keeps coming today in bits?

With my first child I lost the plug with 6 weeks to go, I was panicking! I kept it show Dr, Drs were worried, as they previously expected he would very likely be born quite premature... But he ended up being 5 days late!!

What bits can you see?
Have your waters gone?
Baby moving like normal?

Wazzalass · 16/05/2025 18:17

Oh god so it doesn't mean much at all then😂I have never gone overdue I was 38+1 with both of my boys and 33 weeks with one girl and induced at 36 weeks with my other girl due to slow growth

I had quite a substantial amount come out yesterday I just felt something funny and thought oh what's that went to the loo and it was in my knickers and so sorry again for the tmi but when I wiped it kept pulling out iykwim, then since then just the odd bit when I wipe,my waters haven't gone and she's moving as usual if not MAYBE a little bit less than yesterday but she does tend to sometimes have quieter days

I would get checked out today if she isnt moving as much. Even if she does sometimes have quieter days

Went into labour the day after mine came out

Midwife here, if baby isnt moving well, please go to hospital.

However, I think you're probably niggling and as it's your 5th baby, you are probably quite dilated. It isnt uncommon to need a bit of a push of some sort. We have a lot of women who have 5 plus babies where we work. They often niggle like this, get tired and impatient and then come in about 5cm with a baby who isnt quite engaged. We break their waters, sometimes we need to do it in this special way with 2 people because the baby is high, and then they labour normally.

Sometimes they need a bit of the drip to give them a push, too.

Hi I have monitored her movements over the past hour and half and I'm happy that there normal and the pattern is there,I'm sorry what do you mean by niggling? I'm due to have a sweep on Monday at 37+3 at consultants request I think it's due to pgp I'm suffering quite a bit if nothing then I'm getting induced 2 weeks today at 39 weeks but I don't think I'll get to that date tbh and if I do I suspect it won't take much,I've had over a 10 year gap since my last little boy so do you think labor will be just as quick or?

Small almost annoying contractions that actually do change the cervix (moreso in multips). You're about to be a Grand Multip (5th baby).

And whether it will be quick can be hard to say. What I will say is that if I was on my 5th baby, I'd both be prepared for a super fast labour, but also have a low threshold for a bit of the drip if things weren't cracking on. Your uterus can kind of lose tone, so your contractions become a bit kind of uncoordinated and don't push the baby down as well as it used to. That's where the drip can help.

Still, you're 37/40. I'd also be inclined to try to get to 38/40 before I really asked for much intervention (all being well). Just because 37 weekers can be a bit wee and also need the kind of regular feeding that isnt always easy with 4 other kids. Still they're older as you say.

Yes I'm 41 it was a very unexpected and surprising pregnancy tbh,my eldest are now 23 and 22 then 15 and 10 so quite a gap

Sorry can I ask if yours was bloodstreaked at all or just mucousy?

I lost mine on the morning of my due date. Nothing happened unfortunately. I went in for induction three days later because of repeated episodes of reduced movements. I was already 4cm but absolutely nothing in the way of contractions or signs of labour really. I had my waters broken the next morning and went into labour pretty much immediately after (they broke my waters, stuck me on the CTG for half hour, I went in the shower and contractions were in full swing by the time I was out of the shower).

🤞 for you and good luck! Congratulations!

I lost mine over a month before I gave birth

Shadowredfoxlab · 19/05/2025 09:06

I’ve not had my mucus plug go yet but I noticed you say about your little girl having slow growth and being born a bit early. I’m 37+3 today. Everything has gone well and this is my first pregnancy. But scan showed slow growth and I have another scan this coming week to follow up. Was there a reason for this slow growth? Was your little girl ok? I find it so strange as baby always measured at a quite healthy 50th percentile throughout. Thanks and hope labour goes well when it comes! X
