Induction at 40 weeks in the UK?

Can you ask to be induced at 40 weeks in the UK?

this is my first pregnancy and I’m past my due date and I have an midwife appointment tomorrow and I feel like asking to be induced asap.

I am so uncomfortable, I am getting 2/3 hours of sleep a night, I have terrible pelvic pain I find it painful to walk or do anything!! 😓 I just feel like I’m really struggling at the moment.

the thought of going on a further week makes me feel sick, if I’m tired and struggling now how am I going to cope if I wait another week! 🫩

I was due to be induced on my last pregnancy at 40 weeks but that was due to my age (44). With previous pregnancies they wouldn’t before 42 weeks.
i did try reflexology with the forth and my waters broke the next morning, probably coincidental but it was nice to get a foot massage for an hour anyway

Section 1.2.20 suggests that your midwife should at least discuss the benefits and risks to you/your baby and consider it if you ask.

I hope you are able to get some rest and pain relief soon 💐
