Extreme exhaustion after c section?

I had to have a c section last Friday due to 12 hours of baby heart rate not meeting monitoring levels on ctg machine, firstly the experience was incredible and I have a very positive story, no major blood loss or complications for baby or me.

it will be a week tomorrow since c section and I am so exhausted, how was everyone’s recovery? As I had a vaginal birth last time I have nothing to compare it to, but I remember a recent visit with the midwife that at a week I can take small walks round the block, I’ve read others doing half a mile/mile walks within first week and quite honestly I can barely keep my eyes open.

I’m managing to potter round the house, make dinner, do dishwasher etc but that’s about it and the rest of the time I feel like I could fall asleep- was anyone else similar?

I definitely wouldn’t be able to do a mile walk right now 😂 I don’t understand how others manage it

Your body has been through major surgery, and it needs to recover. Stop worrying about other people (who probably have had a different experience to you), and focus on how great you are doing. You're up and mobile, you're managing to feed yourself and a baby - these are huge things.

Sleep as much as you can (I know that is hard with a new baby) and be proud of yourself. You're doing great!
