Hey @PoliteRoseWolf I'm currently pregnant with my second baby and will be 38 in a few weeks.

Is this your first baby or do you have children? I've found this pregnancy a bit physically easier than my last one, though I am more exhausted but that's probably due to juggling work and chasing a toddler on top of the pregnancy.

I did a NIPT to screen for any genetic issues, I found that very reassuring if it's something you might want to consider.

Do you have any specific concerns? Wishing you all the best with your pregnancy!

Hello @LolaJ87 , congratulations. This is my first baby, that's why I'm nervous. I will definitely look into having an NIPT thank you. Its those concerns, plus with being 38, thank you for your help.

I'm 38 and pregnant with my first. All screening has put my baby in the lowest possible risk category for all age related conditions. Scans have been normal every time, and the pregnancy has been easy overall. I'm due in 4 weeks now and I'd go so far as to say I'm going to miss being pregnant. It's been a wonderful experience. Good luck!

Honestly my age hasn't even been mentioned once! I was 35 having my first so not much younger, and there were no issues then either. There's every reason for you to have a lovely smooth pregnancy.

I had my youngest at 39. Apart from being repeatedly referred to as a "geriatric pregnancy" by medical professionals, it was no different from when I was in my 20s/early 30s. Except for I was more tired, because I was looking after other children, but more relaxed because I knew what to expect.

Congratulations 🥰 I'm 37, expecting my first. Age really hadn't been a factor for me.

I had my baby last year a week before my 39th birthday. Pregnancy was pretty smooth for me, I had nausea for quite a long time but not actual vomiting and I felt otherwise good. I did get a higher risk result in the combined screening, probably because of my age, but I then did the NHS nipt test and everything was fine. Baby was born totally healthy. Birth was a bit of a ride as it seems to be for many first timers but my recovery has been great. I am really enjoying being a mum and I think probably have found it less challenging to my sense of self than I might have done if I had kids younger. I feel like I have had lots of time to live for me and I'm loving this new phase of life.

I hope your pregnancy goes well. Don't be scared!

Had my first at 38, 4 months shy of turning 39.

The pregnancy was easy, I was low risk and the midwife assured me that I was not "old" she has women in early 40's pregnant with first.

I'm happy I waited to have my son later in life, I feel more stable and have life experience, I feel more ready now even though I'm a single parent.

Good luck and enjoy x
