Sperm DNA fragmentation - 9 weeks pregnant

Hi,

hoping someone more in the know can help ease my anxiety and worry!

last year I had three chemical pregnancies. We had lots of testing done and everything came back normal. The last test was dna sperm fragmentation (comet test).

I’ve since found out I conceived in the same month and I am currently 9 weeks pregnant. I have had 2 scans at 7 and 9 weeks and everything is progressing as it should be.
However, the results from the dna fragmentation test have just come back abnormal - with the info that this can lead to implantation failure and recurrent miscarriage. Do I still have hope of holding on to this pregnancy? Currently sat worrying and waiting on a consultation to discuss but can’t help my mind going crazy!

Thankyou in advance!

Hi OP, I think the fact that your previous miscarriages were so early on (chemicals) and that you're now 9 weeks with a healthy pregnancy makes a massive difference.
All the best!

I agree with the above poster, the body is a magical thing and it knows when something isn’t quite right. If you’ve made it to 9 weeks chances are that you have a healthy embryo, that has implanted and gotten comfy in there and everything will be fine. I know it’s hard to not overthink/analyze when you’ve had a loss, but try to relax and stay as calm as possible.
Obviously I’m not a Dr and it’s always best to ask for their advice, but I wish you all the luck in the world and hope the rest of your journey goes smoothly! 💓
