Thrush whilst pregnant

I’m currently 30 weeks pregnant and have what I suspected was thrush for what seems like months. My midwife took a swab a few weeks ago and said there was a slight infection and gave me an unbranded “canestan” pessary for 3 nights which did certainly help pretty much straight away for a little while.

All symptoms had returned and my GP (over the online triage form) has now prescribed a weeks course or canestan pessaries. First one last night, and this morning I feel even more uncomfortable if anything, still sore, irritated and a little swollen.

Has anyone had anything similar? Please tell me canestan will kick in v soon!? Anything anyone else can recommend to soothe a little. I’ve swapped to 100% cotton underwear etc already.

Try probiotics. I can't remember but there are certain ones that are supposed to stop thrush. Make sure they're safe in pregnancy obviously.

Applying yoghurt (plain!) can help. And drink as much water as you can manage.

I got thrush in pregnancy too. So uncomfortable. Hope yours eases soon.
