I'm 17 weeks pregnant and getting bad cramps randomly in my left leg. It's that bad it hurts me to walk but hurts even if I'm sat still. Has anyone suffered with this and is it normal?

Im 17 weeks and also cramping in my legs, I think it could be lack of water?

Is it just the one leg or both?

I would get this checked out as soon as possible to rule out a DVT. Please ring 111. Could be cramp but good to exclude anything serious.

Thankyou

With that can the cramps come and go, I don't get them constantly, it's every few days, but a lot worse tonight.

Measure your calves-are they the same? If the one with pain is different I’d go to a&e.

I used the shower head and ran hot water over it which relaxed the muscles.

OP as the poster above said, please ring the contact numbers the midwives have given you. They will be happy to discuss your symptoms in case it is a DVT.

bluebella2 · 15/05/2025 22:40

@Pregnantmomma01 did you call anyone? I'm just seeing these now, cramps for me was one leg and it's gone now.

What's DVT?

Uphighseesky · 16/05/2025 04:55

@bluebella2 deep vein thrombosis

Pregnantmomma01 · 19/05/2025 16:36

Hi yes I did, they think it's something with my muscle.

I get cramps from my sciatica. Could be that nerve being pressed on by baby.

any update

Very common in pregnancy, they are called Charlie Horses. So PAINFUL. I got them from about 20 weeks onwards. I found that flexing my foot up until they faded really helped. If I pointed my foot down it was game over 😆

one sided leg is that normal ?
