How many weeks pregnant am I based on the size of my gestational sac?

Judging by the first day of my last period I should be 8 weeks pregnant but my periods are very irregular and my cycles are long so I might be less than that. The doc said they couldn’t see a yolk sac during the scan.
I’m a bit worried tbh. How many weeks pregnant do you think I am based on the size of my gestational sac? Is it normal to not see a yolk sac at this stage?

A yolk scan is visible on a scan from 5 weeks, if the yolk sac isn’t visible at 5 weeks then typically that is a sign of miscarriage.

You aren’t 8 weeks if there was no yolk sac visible. For reference I had an early scan at 8 weeks with my current pregnancy and we could very clearly see heartbeat, the start of a head and legs, it looked like a very tiny baby shaped thing. One of my friends had a scan at 6 weeks pregnant and saw yolk sac & heartbeat.

I’m sorry OP it might not be good news. You could be earlier than you expected though which would explain it. When was your first positive test?

Do you have the measurements of your gestational sac? It’s measured as Msd and in mm. The measurement corresponds to days/weeks. E.g 12mm MSD is about 6w.

Look about 5 weeks and normal for this stage if this is the gestation you should be at. Of course if you didn’t track ovulation there’s no way to know how far along you should be.
