How did your early pregnancy symptoms come on, and when?

My partner and I are TTC. Today I believe I am 6 DPO, but not 100% sure as I was working away when I believe it happened (but we DTD before and after)

Today I was sat on a train just chilling as you do and then I got a light twinge in my chest, followed by a strange burning sensation in my nipples. When I got off the train and walked onto my destination the pain disappeared so I put it down to my imagination.

My question is did your early symptoms start gradually, come and go, or hit you hard immediately?

Thank you all!

My boobs hurt like crazy in the early few weeks

Do you remember how early it started? @LadyMonicaBaddingham

I almost immediately had darkened areolas and sore boob's (a bit like PMS) but the areola darkening was a huge giveaway. Also I didn't break out in spots like I always do before a period. I had that ✨️glow✨️ 😂 which everyone kept commenting on lol.

I felt popping sensations in my lower stomach and had a bit of spotting on the 6 dpo. Also had a weird random side pain in my back whilst walking in the first week dpo.

I was absolutely exhausted - I had to go and nap in the middle of the day because I physically couldn’t stay awake. Maybe 2-3 weeks? It was the same with both pregnancies.

I found out 8dpo so really early this time compared to missing my period with my first. I will say it was almost as if seeing the two lines made my symptoms start because as soon as I had a positive test, the gagging/nausea/sore boobs/ loss of appetite everything started asap it hit me hard and fast 🥲 I will say tho the day before my postive test I did have slightly sore boobs which made me question if I was pregnant as I don’t get sore boobs before or during my periods the only time I ever had sore boobs was in my first pregnancy so that compelled me to take a test the next day! I’m currently 21 weeks with ds2 and have practically no symptoms now (which is a relief 😅)except for my huge belly lol

I'm pregnant through IVF and didn't have any symptoms until after a positive test. Even then, it was a fairly symptomless first trimester, with sore boobs and occasional nausea being the only signs. When TTC I would symptom spot all the time, then every single time, AF would come along (sometimes late to really stick the boot in) and I'd realise it was all just in my head, unfortunately. We had no success with natural conception in the end, though IVF worked first time.

Speaking from experience, try not to read into every little twinge as a "sign"; you'll drive yourself mad, and if it turns out you're not pregnant, you'll be gutted every time after getting your hopes up. I really do hope that it is good news for you though, and I wish you well on your journey. Sorry to sound a negative nelly!

With all 3 DC (pregnant with final baby now) boobs hurt before I missed my period. About a week after missed period I started feeling and being sick. Pregnancy symptoms come on quick! Good luck on your TTC journey 🥰

With my first bang on 6 weeks I had nausea and sickness, no other symptoms, with my second I had no symptoms at all.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 13/05/2025 07:05

Bloating

PurpleTurtleMoose · 13/05/2025 07:29

My symptoms only started around the time my period was due, at which point I just had slightly sensitive breasts. Morning sickness hit around week 7

LER2023 · 13/05/2025 07:59

I found out at 9DPO, the tive away was i was tired all the time, but that just got worse as i hit maybe 4 weeks. I hit 4 weeks i was exhausted, and omg my nipples felt like they were being carved off with a rusty butter knife. It was so painful, and then 7 weeks hit and the sickness came on bang on the dot 7 weeks and i was sick that day, then the nausea kicked in for like 2 weeks and then it calmed down, to maybe every couple of days i might have around 10 minutes where i felt sick.
So id say between 4 and 7 weeks my symptoms started ramping up.
Im currently 13 weeks and im still tired, not much nausea, and my boobs are a lot better! I can wear a bra now!

Thank you all for answering - I will try not to think too much about it but it's so hard 😅 today, all the symptoms I had yesterday are gone so who knows (except for achy breasts, but only slightly achy) I took a test and negative but of course it is as it's so early 🤣 I knew it would be but that irrational part of me was thinking 'but what if I got ovulation day wrong and it was earlier'

Hi all, I just thought I'd say I tested positive this cycle in the end so thought I'd weigh in for anyone else who comes across this thread.

DPO9 I tested negative in morning and positive in the afternoon. That day strong cramps came on for the whole day (started around 11) - came on suddenly. My boobs also started to hurt. I believe this was when Implantation occured. I did not have any bleeding. I tested negative the next day, followed by a positive (I believe as it was so early HCG was highly affected by dilution as I've now got good progression lines).
Since then, the period like cramping stopped which made me panic a bit but seems this is normal. I still had some pain, but this felt more like a burning/stinging pain in my uterus. DPO13 today and the period like cramps just came back.
My urine has been surprisingly dark, even though I've been drinking a lot of water.
Haven't spoken to a doctor yet, will do the self referral after I've hit the 5/6 weeks as I know chemical is high risk at this point and it feels like doing it is somehow a jinx.
No cravings yet; no nausea. I suppose that will come on over the next couple of weeks.
