Fever in the first trimester

I had a fever and flare of my asthma symptoms when I was about 3 weeks post conception. I took a course prednisolone (steroids) and antibiotics and it worked however I’ve been worried about the side effects as Google tells you loads of scary info.

Fast forward 7/8 weeks post conception, I’ve caught a nasty cold and have had on and off fever for about a week. I’ve taken loads of paracetamol as advised by GP but symptoms still continue to linger. GP not giving me any medication as viral but I’m worried about the lingering fever for a week as I’ve read that fever causes defects and abnormalities to baby.

I don’t need medical advice as I’ve seen doctor but will definitely go back to them if fever continues but wanted to see if anyone has been in my shoes with being on medication like steroids or had a lingering fever due to a cold and their baby was fine. Some personal experiences from mums would be very reassuring as I’m worried sick that baby has been affected and have been feeling very anxious.

Is it a particularly high fever? If not and it’s not too prolonged then baby should be fine. If you’re worried though contact your midwife.

It’s been between 38 and 38.5 at times and have been taking paracetamol to bring it down. Fever settles for hours at times but it’s been lingering about for a week to be precise. Been to GP twice but they’ve been dismissive and they’ve kind of insinuated to ride it out. Will definitely go back again
