'show' in 35th week....is birth approaching early??

had a 'show' at 34+1. Got checked out, all ok. Asked midwife if means baby coming early, says 'not necessarily'! which doesn't really give me much. I think there is a good chance baby is going to come early....strong braxton hicks for several weeks, lots of pressure down below, urge to clean, go to the loo more often, bump very low.

I have read that the 'show' can appear a 'week or so' before the actual birth and is a sign that cervix is dilating.

Anyone had this experience. I am worried that at only 34 weeks it is far to early to be having a 'show' never mind giving birth.

Just need reassurance so I can at least tell DH thats its ok for me to be left alone!

I think sometimes you can get "a bit" of a show. I was 38 weeks and had a bit, then had a bit a week later then had some more and DS was born the next day.

From my (limited) experience, most people I know who have had early shows did not have early births.

thanks for comments. Reassuring.

The 'show' lasted all day, basically everytime I went to loo and wiped it was there.... thick sticky brown mucous. Went away the next day.

Can I ask how you all felt in general. Last couple of weeks less able to get about without feeling this huge pressure downstairs that can only describe as if something poking my cervix! Didn't feel like this with my first, was running around right until the end.

Everyone I come across (friends, family, strangers!) keep saying there is no chance I am going full term which is no help, and now this.

I am getting ready a bit quicker than I was planning to, packed my case! getting the nursery finished and telling family to stay available......just in case!!

Hi dizzy36.

I am having a similar experience at 35 weeks - lots of pressure down below, painful braxton hicks, baby is engaged and bump is very low, but no show. I would take reassurance from the midwife that all is OK. I know with my first baby I had a show 2 weeks before I gave birth.

Not sure if this is much help - let me know how you get on.
