L
I’m 32+6 and had a vaginal scan a couple days ago. Since then I’ve been having tightenings — they show up on the TOCO monitor (>50) but there’s no pain, just pressure.

This morning (9 May), I had a small amount of brownish discharge. I have placenta previa, so any bleeding makes me anxious.

The CTGs have been reassuring — baby is active, heart rate and accelerations look good. Midwives think it’s uterine irritability or Braxton Hicks, possibly triggered by the scan.

Has anyone else had strong TOCO readings without it leading to labour? Did it settle down?

Thanks so much — it helps hearing from others.

Yes, mine went to 90 and were painful but we’re just “monster braxton hicks”

Lots of things can cause irritability.
an upset tummy, a particularly active day, baby being very active, urine infections, stimulation, Braxton hicks, intercourse.
The main thing to consider if it’s labour is, do they get worse, more painful, closer together, don’t settle with rest/bath/paracetamol

It can be quite normal
