Hi all,

Just looking for some reassurance really.

Ive suffered with anxiety on and off over the years. I am now 4 weeks pregnant and my anxiety has really heightened again. So much so that yesterday evening I had a panic attack for the first time in years. Its sent me down a spiral thinking what if I cant cope, what if ill be a bad mum etc. This was a very much planned and wanted pregnancy but these feelings of anxiety are making me think have I done the right thing. Im also exhausted at night and thats when the anxiety seems to be worse. Ive read up that it can be common in pregnancy due to hormonal fluctuations but just looking for some reassurance. Also Im noticing my nausea also seems to be worse at night. Thanks for any advice.

I definitely struggled with worse anxiety in the first trimester (also have had anxiety for a long time). Lots of worry about the pregnancy continuing, constant worry about miscarriage etc. Panic attacks too. There's a lot going on hormone wise. It definitely got easier at the 12 week scan and then even better after the 20 week scan for me. Don't get me wrong I still get anxious at 26 weeks but a lot less so than in the first trimester. Especially since I've been feeling kicks not long after the 20 weeks it's reassuring. Wishing you lots of strength going forward 😊
