Starting blood thinning injections

Hi all

i’m starting my blood thinning injections tonight and wondered about doing them in my tummy? For context i did ivf last year so am well versed with injecting myself but did them all in my tummy. I’m now 28 weeks and being blunt still sometimes have a squidgy lower half of my tummy which I feel would be better then doing it in my thigh as there isn’t as much fat to hang onto on my thigh (sorry that’s really blunt but I don’t really know how else to describe it 🤣) I’ve heard they can sting but like I say I am well versed in injecting and have only had about 3 months off from it since September so just feels like business as usual! I just wasn’t sure if it was ok to do them in my tummy. Thanks so much for any tips!

I did those during my last pregnancy, and I always injected in my lower tummy. It got a bit tricky to do in the third trimester due to the size of my bump 😂 but no problems at all.

Thanks @cloudjumper im just waiting for the tightening to come to that part of my belly, it may never happen to be fair 🤪 did you find you had any side effects from the injections?

No, no side effects at all (apart from some spectacular bruises from the injection)

Thanks @cloudjumper did the first one last night in my tummy. Easy peasy and pretty much the same as the ivf injections so it’s all good!

I have done these since I found out I was pregnant ….now 25 weeks pregnant
my tips….
always do the injection after a shower (doesn’t sting then)
alternating sides in theory should work but it doesn’t due to random bruising so don’t feel you have to do this
Don’t do it on the thigh as it’ll hurt when you sleep at night
I’ve done it in my bum a few times out of necessity but I find this quite painful when I walk

Ps I don’t have fat on my arse or thighs so this is probably why it hasn’t worked here for me.

I had to do them for months and got told to do alternative side on the stomach. My only issue was pain if I accidentally injected spot I had injected few days before and a lot of bruising but otherwise I think it was ok.

Thank you @Olika and @Blueplu like I say very well versed in injecting myself as I did it from September to February for various ivf stuff. Just wanted to make sure I was ok to do them in my tummy. These ones don’t hurt at all and I haven’t had any bruising so far so I’m pretty happy. I’m sure this will change as pregnancy progresses but for now I’m taking advantage of the fact my tummy isn’t completely taught all over!
