Bleeding, with clots and cramping - anyone had this and not miscarried

I’m 5-6 weeks pregnant, NHS calculator puts me at 5+5.

I had a hot feeling in my belly yesterday morning and had some spotting. Over the course of the next 12 hours it became like the first day of a period. I filled three small panty liners (all I had in the house) with pinkish red blood.

The concern I had was I did have cramping, wouldn’t say it was severe as I was able to go out and about. But when I went to the toilet and passed urine during the day, I had a medium sized clot of black blood (no tissue) smaller stringy bits of black clots at different times and also when wiping mixed in with discharge. I did pass a small bit of tissue at one point in the shape of a little bean.

Today I am spotting and have a pad on but haven’t filled it yet. I don’t have any pain and feel normal but have noticed I no longer feel sick. My breasts are no longer tender to touch.

Has anyone had similar and not miscarried? Clinging on to hope. I have a private scan Monday - we are away and when we return to the UK the local early pregnancy unit and GP surgery will be closed.

I had some bleeding and cramping about 8 weeks in but then went to full term - but the clots and tissue don't sound promising OP. I take there is no way you can get a scan sooner? Even a pregnancy test won't help as the hormones would still likely show a positive test for at least a week. I'm sorry you're going through this. There isn't NO hope but from the sounds of it I think you should be prepared for the worst. Best wishes x

Im really sorry you're going through this.

Just prepare for the worst, it may be all ok, but just prepare yourself for if its not.

Also a private scan will only do an abdominal scan in which you wont be able to see much at this point so you'll be wasting your money. They wont be able to tell you whether your miscarrying or not because you cant see anything on a private scan at this stage. They usually say when your around 10 weeks its best to get an abdominal scan. Everything beforehand is better seen vaginally.
You need to try and get into the EPAU.
Please dont waste your money on garbage scan thats not going to tell you anything.

I went for a scan when i thought i was 9 weeks going off LMP and she told me i had a perfect sac and baby was measuring 7 weeks.
I went to EPAU with continuous bleeding anf they said it was incorrect and baby was actually measuring 6 weeks and the sac was starting to tear away.

I vowed i wouldnt go for private scans in future.

Im currently 12 weeks with my 4th pregnancy and i went for an early scan at EPAU by advice of midwife and was told i was shlwing 7 weeks and 3 days with a healthy heartbeat.

Please go see the EPAU instead of private sending you love💐

@LER2023 some private scans will do internal scans. I’ve had a few at 6 weeks. They told me no point in abdominal as won’t see anything. They also referred me to EPU when they weren’t happy with what they saw. So I think it depends on the place. I do agree though that in these situations with bleeding etc going straight to the EPU is best.

@olympicsrock glad it ended well for you and baby is now a strapping lad!

Did you also have cramping? I’ve had an hour or so of intense cramping today where I’ve had to sit down but it’s subsided. Still spotting on and off.
