Hey guys I need some advice (35weeks pregnant here)
i get growth scans due to a fibroid on top of uterus

I went for growth scan 15th April baby was on 50th centile n weighed round bout 4 pounds
went for another scan 29th April n baby weight is 4.6 pounds
went in today to speak to doctor n he said that the baby has gone lower on the graph which they didn’t tell me about or update on the graph and that they made a mistake and the baby hasn’t grown (which I’m so pissed of about and scared now) and the doctor had told me that my fibroid has grown for 8cm to 12cm and that could be the reason why baby hasn’t grown.

had a scan today but it wasn’t growth scan was to check blood flow and fluid and oxygen to baby which they have said everything is perfect there they checked my right kidney and said it has extra fluid or something which they have now done blood test for (I’m scared again).

I've just lost my head now im so stressed and can’t stop crying n worrying I’ve got another growth scan on Tuesday… but I am beyond scared… can anyone give me any help advice please this is my first baby and I’ve just turned 36… xx

Scans are not good indicators of growth. I was induced 10 weeks early due to concerns about I Uterine Growth Retardation.... Baby was huge was a prem. 3lb 6oz!!

Omg no way hope you and baby were okay… I just dont understand how they can get it so wrong

Baby is now a strapping 6ft 25 year old!!

My point, poorly made is that scans are very inaccurate. Different sonographers measure differently. Even the same sonographers might get it wrong if baby is lying awkwardly.

Good news is that you are practically full term now. Likely they will give you steroids over a few days to mature babies lungs and then make a decision as to whether to induce or not.

As an aside DS2 was 8 weeks early too. He's also now 6ft tall and no harm done. DS1 was in NICU for 6 weeks. Ds2 was in NICU for 17 days.

On the opposite side of things I had growth scans due to static growth of my fundal measurements, was referred to fetal medicine for the last 5 weeks of my pregnancy and my baby actually was smaller. I really empathise with you as it was so stressful and makes you worry so much - I cried a lot the first week because I was so worried. I had low fluid and likely something wrong with my placenta so not quite the same as you but just for reassurance, my restricted growth was picked up at 31 weeks and I basically had no fluid left by 36 weeks so I had a c section to get him out. He came out tiny but needed no intervention and we were home two days later. It's horrible going through this but now they've picked up on it you'll get the best care possible and they'll be extra cautious to get your baby out safely. I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry as the stress really ruined the end of my pregnancy and it all turned out fine/is a distant memory now. Congratulations OP and best of luck!
