Scared It’s Another Ectopic Pregnancy

3 years of infertility, a miscarriage in July of last year and an ectopic pregnancy in February of this year which self resolved. I was due to go back to my fertility consultant this week to have further investigations for the ectopic, as we suspect endometriosis with some scarred/damaged tubing. I was supposed to sign the paperwork for the laparoscopy to check my uterus and tube health before ttc again.

We’d stopped our clomid protocol and was just waiting for the appointment, I started getting pain which felt exactly like my ectopic did in the same side. I was only 9dpo but took a pregnancy test anyway and was shocked to see it was positive! A natural conception!!

Absolutely freaking out because of the familiar pain. It’s been pretty persistent and is also around my back too. The only difference is my line progression is great this time and I’m not spotting. During my ectopic I had what I thought was a weird period. My test lines were coming up negative and positive for a few days up until 14dpo where it was faint but there. This timer FRER is almost as dark as the control line at 14dpo, line progression has been good and my digi is showing 2-3. I know that doesn’t mean much though. I’m convinced it’s ectopic again. Has anyone had a pregnancy after an ectopic and had similar symptoms but it been okay? I still have my tube which is what is worrying me!

Hi OP, I had an ectopic in my left tube in September. I had no idea until crippling pain and bleeding, had to have surgery as it was rupturing and they removed my left tube.

I'm currently 20+4 😀

If you've had a previous ectopic you are entitled to a very early scan, I had mine with this pregnancy at about 5 weeks, just to check it's in the right spot this time. Early pregnancy can cause all sorts of pains and stings.

I do think given your history though you should call your EPU/GP and ask for an emergency scan. Explain your history and hopefully you should get in soon. X

Hi! Congratulations on your pregnancy, so sorry you had to go through the trauma of an ectopic!

the first thing I did was call EPU, they got me in for bloods the next day and my HCG was 25.4 at 10dpo, because by their measurements I was “barely pregnant” (their words not mine), they’ve told me to come back at the end of this week if my pregnancy tests are still positive. I’m hoping I can get a few HCG draws over a 48 hour period until next Friday when I will be 5 weeks and 4 days.

I really do have so much anxiety. I’ve searched far and wide on forums to find success stories. The most common reasons for pain at ectopic site are scar tissue stretching from the uterus expanding and the corpus luteum causing pain. I really hope that’s the case for me. I’m really scared this is another ectopic 😞 just have a gut feeling and feel so sick thinking about it

I know what you mean, I had the same as this baby implanted on the left hand side, on the side where my surgery had been, so was quite sore at times, but the early scan showed she was in the right place.

Can you get a private scan before next week to reassure you? Or is it still too early?

@LookingAtMyBhunas I’m glad everything went well for you, that must have been a relief!
I'm hoping because my ectopic wasn’t too long ago, the pain is just from possible inflammation/scarring and not another ectopic but I don’t feel like with the pain I’ve had, things are looking promising. It’s exactly the same pain as last time and just have so much anxiety and a bad feeling. If the pain wasn’t constantly there niggling away, I might have felt more hopeful. I had to go back to EPU today because my anxiety was high from the constant dull ache in my side!

i can get a scan through EPU for next Friday hopefully. I don’t think they’ll see anything before then (I’ll be 5 weeks and 4 days) so a private scan wouldn’t be worth it unless EPU won’t do the Friday scan 😢 my HCG was 25.4 at 10dpo so we’ll see what this one is at 15dpo

OK Ladybug, that makes sense. Keeping everything crossed for next week x

15dpo HCG came in at 513. It needed to be over 153 to have doubled since Friday.
