Elective section consultation

Hi!
I am currently 16 weeks and I am booked in for an elective section consultation towards back end of this month, at which point I should be going 20 weeks.
I was wondering if anyone knew what I could expect during the consultation? Would they give you rough dates and discuss the risk? That’s what I am assuming? First time going grown the elective section route so any kind of information on what I can expect at the consultation would be great 😊
thanks!

Mine they just kept saying it was major surgery, they gave me a date but talking to people who have had an elective more recently I think they have stopped doing this.
To flag they may well try to put you off by saying how long it takes to recover, the trauma of it etc. In my experience, compared to my friends natural births, it was calmer, over quicker, baby was very happy and healthy and I recovered waaay quicker than my friends, we all had babies at a similar time. Its not the easy way out, there’s never an “easy” birth but honestly if I were to have another it would be another elective.

They are going to ask your reasons for requesting it and discuss the options, risks etc. Dates is much later where I am, usually from Week 39

Thanks for the replies! Yeah this is my second time and because I had a lot of trauma from a vaginal birth with my first, resulting in a 3L blood loss with near on surgery/transfusion, and complications during labour that lead to an overall post labour investigation, the whole thing was really poorly managed and played out. Not putting anyone at fault as who knows what actually caused what went wrong to go wrong, but the midwifes I’ve spoke to before now have agreed it may be a route to explore and to proceed with the request as much as I am wanting to, I think they see no reason why in the circumstances I wouldn’t be able to, just didn’t know what to actually expect from the consultation itself. Thank you ☺️
